If we can't get Walker then I think we should go for Alan Hutton. He's had a bust up with Droopy, I think he'd be a good signing. I've been impressed with him this season.

Well reports today we turned down 19million from Man U for Ashley and they will come back in for him in the summer.

If true he is definitely off, so we need to replace our best player this time after 2 years of not replacing them. ( Barry and Milner)

I read this this morning in The People and i'm sure The People are part of the Daily Mirror, so that puts that one to bed. Besides, Houiller said in January that no-one came in for him.

Come on now clampy, no manager worth his salt would tell the press if he had recieved a bid for his star player and risk unsettling him at a time of crisis, managers reveal what they want to reveal and look after their clubs interest-if ash does go I will wish him luck, he was a great o neill signing and has always given 100% effort - I think whoever does sign him would see him as a winger though and that could be in our favour if he decides he sees himself in the hole role .

If Ashley goes, i'd think about Scott Sinclair.
Okay, he's moved around on loan a bit, but he's starting to look the part now.

Of the players familiar to me N'Zogbia would seem an ideal replacement for Young - could play in a similar role too.

He comes across as a wanker to me,don't think he'd be good for team harmony. A few good games for us and he'd be quoted in l'equipe about getting a move to one of the 'big four'.

If Ash goes we need a different type of player there as I still think he's a winger being asked to play central, even if he does seem to like it.

However, who else reckons he might go and not be replaced, but instead we play Delph in his position?

Do you think Redknap will keep Walker and Naughton.  I think there is still a chance to get Walker in the summer, as Naughton has been brilliant for Leicester this season too.

Ian Holloway did when he got bids for Charlie Adam. Let's just say for the sake of argument Man Utd did put a £19m bid in for Ash in January, i'm sure Ash would have known about it anyway through his agent, it's the way things work nowadays.

Besides, it's strange how it was printed a day after he scores 2 goals bearing in mind the bid was supposed to have happened last month. I think i'll believe GH one this one rather than some nobody Sunday People hack.

I don't think Delph's place is as a second striker. I think we'll just play a more orthodox three next season if Young goes, which ultimately will make us better as we won't be relying on a single individual but rather the team will play more collectively.

If that does happen then I can see Delph being the most advanced of that three.  So even if he's not a direct replacement, he'll fill that roll of being the attacking central force.

Fergie has said he targetted a player but was turned down until the summer- rightly he and the club concerned kept it private- holloway proved to be a fool with his rantings in the press-ash is a class player approaching the last year of his deal, anyone who thinks there has been no interest in him is a fool.

We stated he was not for sale in January and anyone interested would have been told that - let's wait and see what develops in the summer but let's be clear that clubs only reveal what they want to reveal to the press, why unsettle a player you are not prepared to sell, holloway was trying to bump up a bidding war to get the fee he wanted, we have more class than that.

I have a feeling Young will stay and besides, we haven't had any bids for him yet but that could change in the summer of course.

But he could be the main man here and be Captain and so on.
It might be enough to pursuade him, it might not be. But if he does decide to move and we accept a bid, we may as well get a specialist playmaker to play behind Bent. Maybe Houlllier does know who the next Zidane is this time (yes, I know all about Cheyrou).

If they go down I'd go for Foster and Johnson. I'm sure it'd be doable, we've probably decent relations with them considering the amount of business we've done the last few years and none of them have really had it made unbearable for them.

Those two, a left back (Taiwo), a right back (no idea) and a creative centre mid (unless Ireland comes back with his head right) would be fine for the Summer, for me. If Ashley won't sign I'd look at getting N'Zogbia in.

Try and ship out Dunne, Beye, Warnock and Ireland (if his head isn't right), as well as letting Nige and Pires go on frees.
