If we're safe with 2-3 games to go this season we should play Guzan in those games, see how he shapes up. Actually watch him play in the PL before making a decision.

I'd give Friedel a new one-year deal but on the proviso that he is not No.1; there might be scope to incorporate coaching into his role as well, but he is also registered as a player and be called upon if needed.

I've never seen Westwood play, bar brief FA Cup highlights the other week. Big step from where he is to be our No.1.... but he could be a better alternative as a No.1-in waiting than Guzan.

However I look at our options, I can't get away from the fact we will need a new No.1 goalkeeper in the summer.

I saw yesterday that Pearson will decide at the weekend whether to ask villa to extend guzans loan , apparently their keeper is now fit and it looks as though guzan could be sent back after Saturday.

I must admit if friedal got a bad injury I'd be quite worried if we had to rely on guzan in the final 10 games due to his erratic handling and lack of commanding the area , lets hope big brad stays fit.

Green is a good keeper. They all make mistakes, his was just very high profile.

Chances are he'll be available in the summer if they go down so there might be something in it.

Way off the mark there Chris, Green's fucking useless.

I'd rather have Sorenson back before him.

Sorry Lee, your last comment shows that you couldn't be trusted in a mid arm joint versus posterior selection contest. Sorenson is a coward.

Green is a good keeper, not top draw but a long way from fucking useless.

Chris, If Sorenson's a coward, then Rob Green's a consciencous objector from his obligation to be capable of keeping goal

And where this "he's a good shot stopper" bollocks comes from, I'll never know, the mans got crisp packet hands.

As this is turning into a keeper thread, we should give our Swiss U21 keeper a shot in goal if we are safe with a few games in hand, I think it would do him the world of good to play a few games for us, that way it shows we are serious about him.

Anyone heard of/noticed this fella? The article is by Rohan Ricketts who occasionally writes for the sabotage times. High praise indeed, maybe he is also Mark Davies agent.

Some of you might have seen that I predicted the Arsenal vs Barcelona score and all the scorers correctly, well I’ve got a new one for you.  Watch out for this kid Mark Davies, he’s going to be the English Iniesta.

He plays for Bolton so no one’s really watching him but I’ve been saying for a while that he’s quality and now the media is waking up. Of course if his name was ‘Jose’ then everyone would be shouting about him more. It’s sad because he’s English and playing for an unfashionable club, he’s slipped under the radar.

I first noticed him when we were both at Wolves between 2007-09 when Mark was just 18. I remember wondering who this kid was that looked like he had walked off the set of Grange Hill. But he had made his debut at 16 and just signed a new five year contract and so I knew there must have been something about him. I was keeping him out of the team at Wolves and then I got injured and I got a chance to see him play. All of a sudden this normal looking boy got out on the pitch and he was on fire.

Watch him closely on Sunday when Bolton play Fulham in the FA Cup and you’ll see he’s like the Barcelona star in a number of ways. He’s a central midfielder than can travel with the ball, he really explodes past players with the ball. He’s box to box, can beat the opposition and can score goals – he’s incredibly dexterous on the ball. He run games – he’s special!

Of course if his name was ‘Jose’ then everyone would be shouting about him more. It’s sad because he’s English and playing for an unfashionable club, he’s slipped under the radar.
Everyone’s talking about Jack Wilshere these days – especially after that performance against Barca but I reckon this lad Davies is as good as, if not, even better than Jack. The reason I say he could be better is because of his sheer explosiveness on the ball. He’d be amazing at Arsenal because he’d be allowed to be dynamic, technical and flamboyant. I reckon Arsene Wenger should snap him up right now.

Mark Davies is definitely going to play for England before the season is over. In fact, he’s the kind of player England needs to build their game around. Watch out for him – he’s frightening. This boy’s the truth.

Good player Mark Davikes........not sure he is as good as the article writer thinks though.

Left Wolves because of a drink/attitude problem apparently.

If you're talking keepers, I'd need to be reassured that the keeper-coach at VP is top-notch: with the way that BF fails to command his 6-yd box, I'm beginning to question how well the keepers are being coached.

Mark Davies is average. Seen him a few times. Very much a confidence player of his head is down his game goes to pot. First touch not great either.

Bannan is miles better

If WBA go down, i'd take Scharner off their hands - good utility player
Also would like to see NZogbia in this summer
