Fred beat me to it - Robinson would be my choice if we are going to sign a 'Keeper from within England.

I'd rather have Sorenson back before him.

I wouldn't, but I do think Sorenson was harshly treated by Villa and we moved him on too soon.

Robinson's decent - a good example of how a goalkeeper can rebuild his career and reputation after a high-profile mistake playing for England. That's why I'm not so quickly rubbishing Green as a possibility.

If we are going to sign a keeper currently playing PL football, we should go for Paul Robinson.
Playing out of his skin at the moment.

Keepers get better with age, Friedel was crap at Liverpool.

Gossip Column claiming Malouda could be going for £7 million to Hercules? Can't see that.

And no wages. Or running water at their training ground.

I'd agree with that too....Robinson has been excellent at Blackburn.

IMO Green is a dreadful goalkeeper, true he's an excellent shot stopper but you get the feeling a ricket is never far away.  Very much like Carson who made his reputation that year for Charlton, Green has looked 'decent' in a shocking team....the top keepers are those that have little to do but execute it when needed.

Green is a good keeper. They all make mistakes, his was just very high profile.

Chances are he'll be available in the summer if they go down so there might be something in it.

Way off the mark there Chris, Green's fucking useless.

I'd rather have Sorenson back before him.

Sorry Lee, your last comment shows that you couldn't be trusted in a mid arm joint versus posterior selection contest. Sorenson is a coward.

Green is a good keeper, not top draw but a long way from fucking useless.

Every time I see Robert Green in goal now the music from Steptoe and son is playing in my head.

He was good, might be again, but a few too many cock ups (after that major one at the World Cup) has shattered his confidence.
I dont see any need to risk it. Just go and get a better keeper with no issues. In fact, get two of them.

Rob Green is a terrible keeper.

I'm sick of hearing 'good shot stopper' most keepers are, that's there job.

We need a good comanding keeper that will organise his defence and command the air.

I can't see past Westwood, brilliant keeper and FREE agent at the end of the season.

I'm sick of hearing that Westwood is a brilliant keeper when he's never played above Championship level. If that's the limit of our ambitions for next season then heaven help us. I would hope that we can do better than Green too but he's far better than many are giving him credit for.

We need a keeper proven at a high level. Most half decent keepers will look good in a shit side because they have plenty of opportunity to impress but it's the ability to stay alert when you haven't been involved for a while that characterises the best.

Apart from a decent spell for Norwich, I've never clocked where Rob Green built this reputation. Genuinely baffles me.

I remember banging my head against the wall when Capello opted for him over James and Hart. Apparently the 'safe bet' due to his age. About as safe as a block of flats on a marble.
