Of course not attention seeking. A friend said it to me but I cannot find it online so was wondering if anyone else had heard anything similar.

Look up WANKER in dictionary and then look in a mirror - see a match?

is there any need for that? Call his post bullshit if you like, which is pretty much everything that gets posted on here, but no need to call him a wanker.

Yes, and the sad thing is he may well be correct!

do you honestly believe that Spurs are going to buy Marc Albrighton? For 6m? Seriously? On top of Ash leaving and Downing likely leaving? Injury aside, I will put all your money on Albrighton being in the match squad come opening day at Fulham. And, it still doesn't justify calling him a wanker.

Calm down dear, I was trying to be funny. And as you say it's a silly idea - or is it?

Spurs must sell to buy (selling club!  ;) )

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/930481/spurs-boss-harry-redknapp:-i-must-sell-before-i-buy?cc=5901

Maybe we could get Walker more easily (I honestly don't know if this is possible, but it's a thought)?

I think every club on the planet is a sell to buy club in some way or another. Ok, maybe not Man City right now. Even Barca will have shed some players before they can get in some new ones this summer because of their massive debt. The press have just taken to associating us with that tag line even though it happens everywhere.

Whilst I agree we've been hit with that more than most, it is hardly surprising when we've sold our best(ish) player every single one of the last three summers, and seem to be about to sell two of them this summer.

The fact Spurs need to shift some players is not much comfort, to be honest.

Matt from Talksport has tweeted that Downing is also off in the next few days.  Could be absolute bollocks I guess.  If it is true, I hope Villa have fought for twenty million and not bent over to get shunted. Got this from VT.

Fought for 20m?

So, Jordan Henderson (half a decent season at most, just a kid) goes for 15 odd, yet Stewart Downing goes for just 5 more?

That's not much fight if you ask me.

I think Downing will go. And 25m would do it for me. Clean break, give AM a chance to bring in quality players .But i can't say i'd have any time for the player himself.  Barry and Milner put their stint in. Young, fair enough given his contract and performances overall. Downing, well we rescued his career when he was facing 6 months crocked in the championship. he was bobbins when he came back and during MON's reign as a whole. 1 half decent season but hardly pulling up any trees and he's off? Even in these times of no loyalty from both players or clubs i'd find it hard to have anything but contempt for him.

I believe Downing will not leave, unless Liverpool comes up with 20+million, which I doubt it..
We cannot afford to lose both Young and Downing at the same time, even if we get players like N'Zogbia or Wright Phillips to replace them. It's about the prestige of the club. We may not have much money to spent, but I prefer to retain Warnock and Ireland than start selling our stars like that.

Our two priorities right now are Goalkeeper and an Attacking Midfielder for Friedel and Ashley.

Then maybe we can deal some players out, but not Downing and Bent.

You can see Everton, a team with a very tight budget. They never sell unless a huge bid comes in(Lescott 24m) and they get one or two players every summer. And they finish almost every year above us.
(except 2010).

We should give everyone the message that we are not a selling club. We are a buyer club And we should be the club that bus top players from other teams(Bent, Downing, Milner)

If Sunderland can sell Henderson for 20m and Newcastle Carroll for 35m, then we should price Downing 25m at least. He is a better player than Henderson, he is 25, he is probably the best English left foot Winger, scores, creates goals, has speed, has everything. I say at least 25m

It isn't really relevant to use the Henderson fee as a benchmark.

Liverpool bought Henderson for the next decade and if they decide to sell him sooner, he'll still be young enough to command a decent fee.

In Downing's case, there's only a minimal resale value to offset whatever fee he goes for plus he'll need replacing much sooner than Henderson will.

Downing is a better footballer at this moment in time but that's only half the story.

I'd sell Downing for £20m+ (he's good but not THAT good) but there had better be a shit hot player (or two) lined up first.

The other half would be Liverpool doing their utmost to unsettle a player who 10 days before the close of the season was talking about how settled, happy and generally pleased with life he was. Typical Liverpool tactics, Henderson is decent but no more so than Lee Hendrie at 20. Downing is a good footballer, but a fucking puff, as I have said continuously through the last 12 months. Liverpool fans will loathe him after 3 months.

Taken off BBC Football site:

Aston Villa will buy Birmingham keeper Ben Foster after a 'cooling-off period' with boss Alex McLeish and they will also sign Charles N'Zogbia from Wigan.
Full story: Daily Mirror

If he gets them both would be over the moon!

OK you don't like him, but why post the homophobic comment?  I have no idea of the guy's sexuality and can't imagine why it would matter one way or the other.  Either he can play and do a job for the Villa - or we should sell him.  I hope we keep him because he's good.

Me too, N'Zogbia could be great if he gets the chip off his shoulder, bring 'em on.
