I think Adam will have better options than us, but whoever goes down there will be decent players up for grabs, Parker, Robinson, Jarvis all being good options.

I'm another fan of Enrique.

The squad I'd go for for next season would be -

GK - ROBINSON, Marshall, Seitguiest (or however it's spelt)
DR - WALKER, Lichaj
DL - ENRIQUE, Baker
DC - Clark, Cuellar, Collins
MC - Makoun, BARTON, ADAM, Delph, Bradley
AM - Bannan, Gardner, NINIS
W - Albrighton, Downing, JARVIS
ST - Bent, Agbonlahor, Delfouenso, Wiemann

-------------------Robinson------------------
---Walker---Cuellar---Clark---Enrique---
--------------Makoun---Barton--------------
---Jarvis-----------Ninis--------Downing---
---------------------Bent-----------------------

Barton?

As in Joey Barton?

Wow.

Also, starting the season with only three centre-halves could be disastrous.

Yes, as in Joey Barton. He may be a bit of a ******, but I think he'd be the ideal counter for Makoun in the centre.

The reason I only went for 3 centre backs is because we have Lichaj & Baker who can cover if we have a major injury crisis there again.

I'm thinking that unless we can find the new Patrick Viera somewhere (not you, Isiah) then Parker would be a good short term solution until we do.

And sorry, but I wouldn't want Barton within a hundred miles of our club.  Some things are more important than football.

Enrique's gonna go to Liverpool, who with Ashley will rebuild their left side.

I'm glad you've said that though VillaSub. regarding Barton. You're a braver man than me, but I'd take him too. He's quality, matured a little over the last few years but still retained that nasty streak. We need a leader and he is one.

The squad I'd go for next season and not far away from VSMs thinking:

GK - ROBINSON, WESTWOOD, Guzan
DR - WALKER, Young
DL - TAIWO, Baker
DC - MEXES, SHAWCROSS, Clark, Cuellar
MC - Makoun, Moussa SISSOKO, KALLSTROM, Delph, Reo Coker
AM - Bannan, Gardner, ADAM, Johnson
W - Albrighton, Downing, JARVIS, LARSSON
ST - Bent, STURRIDGE, Agbonlahor, Delfouenso, Wiemann

Set them up how you like. Pretty much all angles covered.
Yep, that's a lot of shopping. Quite a few out though and needs must. Plus a lot of these buys are free or relatively cheap.
If Mexes is out of reach then a cheeky punt at Roger Johnson or Scott Dann.

Kallstrom, you say?  ;)

Lots of names on there but some very good ones, and some very gettable.

Can't understand why people want to sell Gabby. He always puts a shift in. It may not always pay off but you know he will always do his best. Also at any time he is able to change the pace of the game.

I thought Gabby settled into the game, and for me would have stayed on.  Put in a good shift, as he always does.  He has pace to burn which always gives an outlet.  Stay for me.  As for the best midfielder in england, he can stay a barcode for all I care.  Some brilliant bits of play are spoilt by him losing his rag and getting carded or putting pressure on his own team.  Pardue said yesterday "Young is the most fouled player in the league so we had to be careful"  So, dont fould him then, and for the Captain to commit the error suggests he aint all that after all.  He could quite easily have walked yesterday if a ref like Dowd was on the pitch.

If we sign Barton we should carry on singing the same songs that were sung for him yesterday.

I'm all for signing the odd scoundrel if the ends justify the means but I draw the line at that horrible cockpuppet,

I was a bit surprised by Barton; I thought he'd cleaned up his act somewhat. But then there he was, captain for the day, mouthing all sorts at the referee throughout the game and actually lucky to stay on, given he was booked in the second half and not at all for his earlier examples of dissent.

If he's that good, Newcastle would be playing him in central midfield, not wide right.
