A mate of mine told me that, when he was Villa manager, Big Ron's end of training session 5-a-side games usually took the format of "blacks v whites".

Better than shirts v skins, I suppose or bibs vs shirts.

To be fair, we used to play that at school in the playground as well.
i remember one, probably ahead of his time but we just thought he was gay, teacher telling us it was racist, to which one of the black guys said "No way Sir, it's great thrashing them white bastards every day."

Not sure this adds anything to the debate but it's strange what you suddenly remember!
Same here Dave, we had similar matches at school in the playground. Sometimes it was year v year too. Everyone shook hands and was mates with each other after the game anyway.

Pikeys (council estate, i.e. me!) v Posh gits
Clever ****** v Those in car maintenance

i dont know how you can change the formula that much,
you just watch a match on the telly then a few blokes talk about it for a bit, thats it really. with maybe a few gadgets thrown in

some pundits you like some you dont, thats life i suppose.

for me the worst one by far is Ray Wilkins,
the most boring bloke in the world, always on message, always tows the ex profesional footballer line, and always says nothing of any interest.

he is the football equivalent to a talking Buzz Lightyear, you know exactly what he's going to say, just not the order he's going to say it in.

also the most overated footballer of all times.

but then some people like him, so it just goes to show, you cant please everyone.

Draw your own conclusions

Ron Atkinson never shut up about Dion Dublins dick !!! He was either totally envious or realised why his misses had secretly been having her "me time" on the Soho road .........

The show didn't get any better today but at least they took calls from the public. I dipped in and out for the three hours but each time they were talking about Chelsea last night or Spurs tonight. They need to vary the content.

As a TV anchor man Keys was fine, but on radio you need to make up for the lack of visuals with rhythm and colour in your speech and he just hasn't got it. It's like one, long drawn out conversation with absolutley no levity whatsoever.

It won't go on like this, the producers will have to shake it up.

Dwight Yorke in his autobiography said something along the lines of Ron was racist in training but he put it down to him being old fashioned.

funny i like Wilkins, he is a genuine bloke, (i met him once) its a bit refreshing to have a bloke that does make some observations without over egging it and will admit when the replay shows he called it wrong

A copy of Gray's alleged resignation letter has emerged, although its authenticity is in considerable doubt:
I'm so sad to be leaving a company that I've served for over 20 years and a job that I've loved doing.

However, as I'm sacked anyway, I might as well tell you the story about my friend that I was going to tell on air next week.

You see, she got a job as a teacher of physical education to a group of teenage boys. One day she notices a boy in the field standing alone at one end of the field, while all the other kids are running around at the other end having fun. She takes pity on him and decides to speak to him.

"You ok sweetheart?" she says.

"Yes Miss" he replies.

"'You can go and play with the other kids if you want" she says.

"It's best I stay here Miss. " he says.

"Why?" asks the blonde.

The boy replies: "Because I'm the fucking goal keeper"

Yours sincerely.

Wilkins is OK - just a bit too London focussed for me and a tad boring.
