Agreed but to get rid of them we need to find someone that wants them and is prepared to meet their wage demands- not that easy.

I think Houllier has taken a strong stance against those spreading their negativity through the squad. I will give him credit where it's due that he certainly seems to have the gonads to stand up to them and is not afraid to ruffle feathers or meet the egos head on. Good on him.

We seem to have a lot of players living far away and I believe houllier is trying to address that- friedal, dunne and warnock all live in the north west and ash has reportedly moved back to Hertfordshire, I would imagine all that travelling doesn't do them any favours in the long run and think that living within a 40 mile radius is fair enough .

Obviously , depending on contract length as it wouldn't be practical to ask someone in the final year of contract to move home. I would say anyone given a 3 or more yr contract though should be prepared to move to the  area.

I'll be glad when there's an end to this whole squalid affair. The one thing that we should all appreciate is how Randy Lerner has stuck to his word. He's the one that's paying the wages of these players, he's the one who's having to pay at least half of Stephen Ireland's wages while he plays for another team. He's the one that has given the manager money to spend on players that suddenly become worthless, running down their contracts or being sold to the Rags for a fraction of the original cost.

He's also the one that has stuck by his manager and just given him a load of money to buy new players. Nobody asked him to do it, quite honestly, nobody really expected him to do it but the fact is it's there for everybody to see; he did it. We are one hell of a lucky club to have him as our Chairman and owner. Somebody mentioned earlier about how with the debt and costs, William McGregor must be spinning in his grave. Well I can only think he was looking down on us the day Randy Lerner walked into Villa Park.

I can see why he wants the players close but in any other walk of life this is a normal part of the working day. I know loads of people who commute to the West Midlands from say, Oxford and Bristol and back for their own jobs. The moving closer may seem like he's putting the players' interest first but I think it's also a measure of control to some extent.

This is why McDonald wasn't given the job in my opinion.

Houllier has come in and stamped his authority on the club and it's working!

Warnock is a decent player, we all saw that last season pre Wembley. If Gerrard can get him to knuckle down Villa would benefit!

I do wish he would keep his mouth shut and keep these things behind closed doors. The comment about Petrov and his ego, again completely unnecessary to go public with it. He just can't help himself.

Maybe he should keen on letting people know what shit temperaments some players have, rather than keep it locked away under threat of legal proceedings leading to all that fan and media speculation which ends up with twats calling to sack him 1 month into the job.

Seems reasonable to me. I'm sure there is plenty he keeps under wraps, the magic change in Dunnes attitude for one

I agree with all of that I'm just a bit concerned that his comments to the press, not now but maybe later come back and bite him on the arse. If this is just a phase where he needs to set the rules, fine. My worry is it's a characteristic and playing out club issues in the press is a dangerous game.

As far as I'm concerned warnock has burnt his bridges and I'd be happy to cut our losses and get rid of him.

I think he’s done the right thing by getting rid of the dissenters and separating those who could not be got rid of.

'They must show they like the club'

Fucking fantastic, though I don't always agree with the airing of dirty laundry in public I love GH for this. Tells me all I need to know about him.

Why should the reserve lads have to put up with these two ?

Don't exactly set a good example of professional players in my opinion .......

Considering how much deadwood Houllier had to ship out I applaud him for the result

Agree, if they're that bad, make them train on their own.

GH is right to sort out (and if necessary "out") those players he sees with poor attitudes, but to me doesn't matter much whether they're on £10k or £60k a week - whether they were MON signings or came through the youth system. Negative and disruptive characters aren't needed and those left have to accept the new boss and his ways and move on.

It's also good to see Dunne obviously pulling his weight (ahem) and putting whatever issues he had to bed.

Don't expect Kevin Mac to take any shit, he'll know how to handle them.

Training with the reserves ? Thats a bit disrespectful isn't it. Why should the reserves be lumbered with those two.
They have a successful side , we dont need those two rotten apples messing it up.
Let them train on their own.
