Is Beye out of contract this June? I certainly hope so.
He has a contract until June 2012. Why we gave a 31 year old a three year contact on reportedly £40k a week I'll never know.
I thought it was longer than that.

He cost, I think £1m, so with wages of £40k pw, a total outlay of £7,240,000.

What a bargain!

thats just ruined my weet-a-bix...   ffs...

Fee undisclosed but widely reported at £2.5m. You can understand them wanting to keep it quiet.

MON must have really hated this club.

Houllier is basically telling the fullbacks to cut the attitude! Learn to get around with the boss warnock and beye !

Welcome to reality...

And for those players already shipped out Ged Houllier has not driven away anybody and he picks his players based on merit.

That's his management style and it can go against footballers of a certain mentality.

its more a case of mon being an extremely clever man at protecting his own reputation..

he comes into a club not doing so well, gets players in that suit only his way of playing that cost a lot of money and on high wages, and then leaves when the going gets tough, meaning that the next manager has to clear up his mess, and in the process, has a worse season than o'neill did...

his media mates then claim that o'neill over achieved and is a great manager, and the myth continues...

In that case, the outlay is just shy of £9m.
Splendid!

I think it's a superb way of dealing with them. He's dropped them to the reserves and they still don't want to fight for the club, so why shouldn't he tell everyone what's really going on.

It also gives out a sign to other players that it's his way or your out.

And this is the true legacy of MON - if his media pals can't tell the difference between not having the money, and having the money but not giving it to him to waste before he can prove he can learn from and attone for his own mistakes, then they are utter idiots.

Houllier will struggle to find a taker for Beye, especially seeing as he's content to train with the stiffs and pick up the cash. It might cost us just to release him on a free.

MM on VT mentioned that Warnock the Weasel apparently told the dressing room to "F*ck your club and f*ck your fans". No idea when or how it true it is.............but would not surprise me.

The Beye deal was absolutely mental, god knows what that idiot O'neill thought he was doing.

IIRC Beye was on his way to Hull, having agreed a fee with Newcastle but we came in last minute with obviously better personal terms.

Similar story with Harewood, who was on his way from West Ham to Wigan until a last minute intervention.

It was said on here that we could have spent 18 million on a forward in August 2009 if MON hadn't spent 18 million on defenders to replace the errr defenders he bought

Manager's authority should be respected but to what extent.
Should Houllier complain about a player in the media though, that can create more problems then good ?

GH is given at times to talk about players criticizing carew, lichaj,(harshly) ireland... now warnock and beye. these players all are not involved currently with villa.

I think he does this
to show hes boss
to get players to have a look at themselves- attitude, commitment, what it means to be a footballer.

Speaking back in december

"Do people have to adapt to a new manager and methods? In a way, yes. You adapt or you die. We are changing a lot of things and that upsets the comfort of some players.

"I am not going to talk about the players who are dissenting and not happy. Any manager who runs a team knows the players who are playing are happy, and the players who are not playing are not happy.

"They think the methods are not good and they think the manager is not the right person but we have to live with that.

"We know that we are changing things, we know that sometimes people are whingeing and moaning but they have a fantastic job.

"They are paid high wages to play and enjoy football. This is a fantastic job and sometimes you forget that."

Fairplay to Houllier. He is making a statement to them and all squad members. Commitement or you become isolated. It is up to them to get there head round it and be professional ....
