Realistically I can see us almost doubling our points tally with 13 games to go, if we can manage that I'll be chuffed as a gibbon in a swimming pool full of bananas.

I'm loving the fact that almost everyone is expecting us to deliver top 3 type form for the rest of the season. I hope they're right, I suspect they'll be wrong.

Depends whether the players "hit the beach" once we are looking comfortable safe in mid table

I don't think we'll win them all but I don't think we'll lose any of them, Two toughest are Bolton away & Blackpool.

On today's performance we need to re-think most people's perception of how we will perform in remaining matches. I truly believe that 40 points won't be enough (all clubs near the bottom are picking up unexpected wins) and it will be touch and go for us. Good to WBA in freefall though - let's hope it lasts.

Vdawg I have to agree - my head said we would win 3, draw 5 and lose 3 before today. I saw nothing to disuade me from this today.

Looking at Everton, Stoke, Bolton and Newcastle's fixtures, 10 points from Blackpool, Blackburn, Bolton and Wolves should see us 8th or 9th going into the last 8 games (where we still have to play potential divisional rivals Stoke, Newcastle and Liverpool all at Villa Park).

Bolton have Everton, Newcastle, Us and Man Utd
Newcastle have Blackburn, SHA, Bolton and Everton
Everton have Bolton, Sunderland, Newcastle and SHA.
Stoke have SHA, Arsenal, West Brom and West Ham

Everyone has to play each other and it's so tight. If we can put some form together (which despite the last couple of results we've shown like doing IMO) then Europe is still very gettable.

TBH a top 8 finish is good enough for me, I don't really want the Europa League (Sunday kick offs and the distraction from the league) and it still makes us look attractive to potential targets.

So a shaky start to the "easy 11"

Blackpool away next, can't see us getting anything there based on our defending. They crete lots of chances, I think we'll have to score 3 to win

How was it a shaky start? Really? It was 2 goalkeeping errors from being a very comfortable 2-0 win. As it was poor handling and then poor decision making cost us 2 silly goals, and gifted them a draw. In the scheme of things those mistakes won't happen every week, and we will finish up with 47-52 points and in the comfy zone. Then the real rebuilding will start.

I see the next twelve as  W4 D5 L3 which means 17 points and a total of 46 for the season. Enough to stay up.

Mmmm, we were hanging on a bit at the end, at home to Fulham, we should be doing better. As for the errors, there's been too many this season, not just Friedl, defence, midfield you name it

The second came from Petrov and Clark pissing about with the ball, which we did too much, but we were not hanging on a the end at all, they had a couple of corners after we had a couple of corners. They are in their best form of the season too, and are defensively the best outside the top 4. We will play much easier sides than Fulham, and the mistakes were rare from the keeper.. just think there is often so much over reaction to some results.
