I remember when we played them in the cup at Maine Road, Tony Coton played an absolute blinder for them, we lost 1-0, Villa fans on the pitch afterwards, police horse treading on my foot, Villa losing up there was considered a shock result....

Also remember going to Notts County in the cup and watching the worst nil-niler I've ever seen. For some reason, I seem to remember it was a night game but not a replay?

I believe this game is going to be a night game anyway isn't it? Something to do with City's Europa League commitments, meaning the replay is on the weekend of the 5th round? Talk about the FA Cup losing its magic.

Think it was a Tuesday night and I think it was because of a frozen pitch on the original date.....but I may be wrong.   I do remember we had the whole of that one stand behind the goal and it was pretty full,  for what was a really crap game.

I reckon if it's City we have to play, it'll be on Wednesday 2nd March. ( prob the same date if Notts pull it off in the replay, due to ticket sales).

City's midweek fixtures after Notts Co. on 19/20th Feb are,
Thurs 24/2 Aris, home, Europa
Wed 2/3 no game
Thurs 10/3 Europa (if they beat Aris)
Thurs 17/3 Europa ("   "      "       ").

If we drew at COMS, then the replay would have to be on Sunday 13th March, the weekend of the sixth round.

dont think so mate as City have a premiership game on Monday 28th Feb v Fulham

City have take the money for their two live games on Feb 28th and March 5th. So they have NO choice but to play this on the 2nd March unless FA soften and allow the tie to move to the weekend of the QTR final.
Anyway all this is futile as we will be playing County away!

Wasn't that the league game under Atkinson?
we'd gone about 8 games without scoring.

I just have a feeling that we could do them at their place - the league game was a shocker but i think we have found our resolve and now after the league win we will not have too much fear

They have some tough games coming up including Europa leage which i think Mancini will take more seriously than the FA cup

Yep, dreadful 0-0, and we beat them in the replay.
I was at Nott'm Trent Uni & bed-ridden with flu, but dragged my corpse down to Meadow Lane on a miserable cold night, only to see one of the worst games ever witnessed.
Decided to take the rest of the week off, just in case.

If we play City IT WILL BE Weds 2nd March - their TV game v Fulham on the Monday will be moved. Any replay with them would be on qtr final weekend.
Not sure about Notts, but I guess it would be the same.

I think.

It was a league game 2 days after we lost to Liverpool in the quarter final in 1993, I took a leicester supporting mate of mine and he still refers to it as one of the worst games he has ever seen, it was truly dreadful!!

Not quite true if we are talking about the FA Cup game of the 90s.  The 3rd round game scheduled for a sunday at meadow Lane was called off so we played the game on a midweek evening, which was 0-0...and was truly shocking.  We won the replay but lost at The Baseball Ground in the 4th round. Season 96-97.

Yes you are right, that makes it 2 of the worst games ever, I had been hoping we got Notts County but on reflection maybe Man City is a better option!!

Was that the game with the comedy free kick, when about three of our lot all managed to dummy the ball and no-one actually kicked the ball?

Wasn't the replay pretty dire too? Didn't we need extra time to win two or three nil?
