Having watched the Carl Chinn interview - are the bells in Aston Church still there and practical, ie safely working?  If so, could we get some live action on sunday around 4pm?
calling all bellringers...

If would be great if that could somehow be arranged!

The Ajax song is good, but it's their thing. And all they are doing is singing a well-known song. We too can sing a [formerly] well-known song called the Bells are Ringing and what's more, it's got special Villa lyrics.

I also think the Bells are Ringing is livelier than Three Little Birds. Those who say it's an oldie, well so is Kumbaya My Lord and everyone sings that.

So, we had fucking well better hear a rip-roaring rendition of TBAR and WYS on Sunday after all this effort.

If we go the Bob Marley route, it should be Buffalo soldier.

'Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival.'

'Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival.'

Then Exodus five minutes from the end of the game.

Row erupts over Aston Villa terrace anthem [with video]

A WAR of words has erupted over what song should be played when Aston Villa take to the field at home matches.

Villa fan Renford Williams claimed he wrote his own track, called Lion Hearts, two years ago under the impression it would be adopted by the club as its official anthem.

The father-of-five, from Chelmsley Wood, said he was heartbroken when he read in the Birmingham Mail how fans had recorded a new version of The Bells Are Ringing to be played as the teams emerge from the tunnel.

He said: “I’m really uptight about it because that’s what I was hoping would happen with my anthem. It had the backing of Aston FM which is why I thought it had gone to the club and would be seen as an anthem.

“I’ve heard The Bells Are Ringing and it’s more of a chant than a song.”

Mr Williams, a 53-year-old forklift truck repairer, claims his track has received more than 100,000 hits on YouTube and has been broadcast on Aston FM, BBC WM and Gold.

While the club has authorised the use of The Bells Are Ringing inside Villa Park, the idea and the physical recording of the track was spearheaded by fans.

Jonathan Fear, editor of the Vital Villa internet forum, said: “I put out the suggestion of an anthem two years ago and the one that came up time and time again was The Bells Are Ringing.

“There will be people who don’t like it but there’s lots of fans that want a better atmosphere at Villa Park.”

A Villa spokesman said the club did not have an official anthem and that it was down to the fans to adopt one.

The spokesman added: “At the end of the day, the club can’t impose an anthem it has to be something that comes from the terraces and the fans.

“That’s what has happened with The Bells Are Ringing.

“Whether it is adopted as an official anthem is up to the fans.”

Fucking awful.
Who in their right mind would want that as an anthem?

Pitiful.

It started badly, tailed off a bit in the middle and the less said about the end the better. But apart from that it was excellent.

Mr Williams, a 53-year-old forklift truck repairer,

No wish to hear the song but i'm guessing there is a pretty good explanation as to why he is employed as a forklift truck repairer and not as a songwriter.
