My lovely horse, running through the field
Where are you going, with your fetlocks blowing in the wind?

I want to shower you with sugar lumps, and ride you over fences
Polish your hooves every single day, and bring you to the horse dentist

My lovely horse, you're a pony no more
Running around with a man on your back, like a train in the night...

Anyone remember that track by Spizz Energi "The Sun Always Shines on Aston Villa" which contained the strange line "Hey Aston Villa, Gravelly Hill Interchange."? Also went on about Holte Enders living forever if I remember right. I used to have it on cassette, which will have been thrown out along with my betamax collection and 32" waist jeans.

I do remember Dirty Old Town being sung in the Holte, around mid to late 80's?
It has that melancholy air, it doesn't mention Villa, but the lyrics just seem to match, references to gas works, old canal etc.
Plus it did seem to catch on well, i am sure it was written about Salford and the Manchester ship canal, but it just sums up Birmingham for me, a no nonsense industrial city that no one loves.
Anyway The Bells are Ringing is great when belted out, that gets my vote.

That's the one... thanks, I enjoyed that at the end of a miserable night!

As for the "Gravelly Hill Interchange" line, it's kind of spoilt the memory finding out it was "Gravelly Hill Riviera!!" And my memory had changed the title too, what a plonker.

Some great memories on there otherwise though.

Cheers.

I know this thread's pretty much dead. But would just like to suggest "Carry on my Wayward Son".

We would be absolutely badass.

Anyone remember us singing "Mull of Kintyre" back in the day ?

Was the time of the Balloons - recall us singing it at the Baseball Ground.

I know it does not have Villa featured in i,t but neither does Delilah mention Stoke or KRO mention the Scum.

Yes - Derby away on Boxing Day (1977?) was absolute class; had it all, including the Viking.

I have to go to work and do not have time to read the whole thread so I apologize if it has already been suggested.

I would like to nominate Springtime For Hitler with the word Villa substituted for that of Hitler and in the next line the words Small Heath substituted for the word Poland in the next line which is Winter for Poland etc etc.

Bosnich could be brought out of retirement to launch it.

I may grow a small moustache as way of tribute to this idea.

We need a song that does not mention small heath or any other team. In fact we need to stop singing about thẹ noses full stop!

I think "lean on me" could be brilliant.

got to be "the bells are ringing" for me, when everyone's singing it-it really makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck.

That'd  be brilliant. We should ask The General to get it played.
