Look, I want "The Bells are Ringing" as much as anyone else over 44 years of age, but getting the youth to sing it is  as difficult as it would be if your mom were telling you it should be 'Distant Drums' by Jim Reeves.

Distant Drums used to be sang  back in the Third division days at opposition supporters.

I hear the sound of Distant Bums
Over there, over there
and do they smell
Like f****** hell
Over there over there.

Maybe we should find a song by a pop star like Justin Bieberlake or Puff Diddy David Hamilton for the young 'uns.
Respec innit.

Considering what some sections of the media are saying about us recently, how about:
Paranoid by Black Sabbath or Oliver's (B)army by Elvis Costello

   ;)

The trouble with 'the bells are ringing' is that i've already seen two (possibly even 3) variations posted across the threads.

If we do adopt an anthem, it should be with thw origin words in my opinion. No changing them to cheesy lyrics.

That said, Holte Enders in the sky can stay. Well, the chorus anyway.

To the tune of Bring me sunshine     Morecombe and wise

Bring me sunshine on matchday
Let the Villa win away
In this ground where we play there should be more happiness
So much joy when we win, 3 more points tomorrow.

You’ve made me happy through the years,
Always given me so many tears
Let your skills be as good as the god from up above
Bring me goals, bring me titles, bring me love.
Bring me sunshine when you play
Let all the bad days go away
Life’s too short to be spent not winning anything
We can be so content if we won the league tomorrow
Be strong hearted all day long,
Keep on singing happy songs
Let your wins be as warm as the sun from up above
Bring me goals, bring me titles, bring me love!

Dirty Old Town

Had the exact same thought, great anthem. Could amend the lyrics slightly. Im no music genius, but somethig like:

I met my love by Aston Hall
Dreamed a dream by the old canal
etc etc

or could just simply keep the original lyrics, great song!

Possibly Danny Boy?
