This is an absolutely vital game to win.  If we do, we'll be 6 points clear of Wigan with a much better goal difference.  We'll also be around midtable, which would obviously give everybody a big confidence boost.  Lose, and we then play Man U still firmly entrenched in the relegation mire.

Huge, huge, must win game.

I agree. As well as the good result on Saturday, we need to follow it up, go on a run & more importantly beat the teams around us.

I'd like to see Bannan & Makoun play in the middle. I don't know much about Makoun, so it'll be interesting to see him play, but Bannan would be good for this game. His eye for a pass is excellent, and with the runs Bent makes it could work out well.

Wigan 0 - Villa 2.

Not so much must win as should win and will win.

Gone for a draw simply because i'm usually so bad at this it might guarantee us the win.

On a side note, i'm making the long trek from Rochdale on Tuesday, well it is 2 trains !  Anyone know how long the walk is from Wigan Station to the DW ? Last train back is only 20 mins after final whistle so might need the running shoes.

Be nice to see a win, but its not yet must win game territory a draw will do nicely. What bothers me is after such a sterling effort against Man City how affected will the players be, we seem to have this habit of coming down with a bump after a good performance. Still not enough consistency.

Winnable game though, although I have a secret hope for beating Utd.

This is a crucial game, more so than the Man City match. Villa should hopefully be up for it though, Makoun will hopefully get his debut, and we can see more of the fighting spirit and team togetherness that we have seen over recent weeks.

That said Wigan can be incredibly poor or quite good. We do have a better squad though, and I fully expect another win.

Think Makoun will be on the bench as will Heskey ?
Can't see GH changing a winning team ?

Glad Makoun had a chance to watch the Man city match. He can now see the spirit and battling required and expected for Aston Villa. Not sure he will start but from what i have watched and read about him, he is going to be a massive player .........

I think Heskey and Bent up front would be a handful for most defences....?

I think we'll win. Another clean sheet would be great and our star striker to score at least one.
