Fantasy league Hart got 7 saves given to him. Not a clue how many Brad had though.

Kolorov can hit a ball can't he!?

And seriously, how were you impressed with the heartless gutless mundane "efforts" of Downing Dave? He makes me want to shake him till he gets a bit of fire in him.

Yes Yes YES
Oh my  my ...Villa fans those of you who were not there  for  family reason, work reasons , economic reason or you  just live too far especially those of you overseas

I feel  sorry for you
Why ..because when Dazza struck  in the 17th minutes

THERE WAS NO BETTER PLACE ON THIS EARTH TO  BE THAN VILLA PARK

The burst of noise that seem to last forever the sheer joy  and  celebrations by players the hugs all around the silence of the mancs...unbelieveable

I am still buzzing..I wish you were all there!

I love posts like this, they epitomise why we support a football club.

Bravo Aftab, bravo.

You are joking? Downing was quality today, everyone was quality and when Petrov tired he was subbed.

I'm going to wear my Aston Villa shirt with 'Bent' on the back with pride!

Marvellous.

Just don't wear it at Pride.

Barry - outclassed and subbed.
Milner - warmed up well, but may as well have stayed in bed.
Ireland - did stay in bed.
Dunne - simply magnificent.

And tomorrow's headline has to be...
BENT 18m
(not millions, but minutes taken to score his first goal)

I agree that Downing played very well today, above all if we consider that he is a winger and has been played as CM, so we must appreciate his versatility.

Maybe the few people around where I was saw it different then, but Downing gave it away a fair bit and just never seemed to bust a gut the way the others were. He is too much of a fairy to play central midfield.

Two moments today: the cheer/noise that seemed to last forever after Bent's goal and  at the final whistle. I love football.

TURNING POINT....

A new folk hero
Quality in depth
Solid defence/dangerous attack = points.
Mark my words, we will get to the same kind of level Spuds are achieving right now.
Heard we might be getting Crouchy back as a foil for Bent, got to be good.
We are getting rid of the driftwood at long last.
This is going to snowball from here on in.  22-1-11  remember the date...its day ONE.

That result was a long, long time coming!!

Wasnt pretty for long periods, but some of the last ditch defending was magnificent. Still think our midfield doesnt offer enoguh defensive protection but that is for another day.

Fact remains that City were restricted to long range shots, which they almost got lucky with on once or twice. I think if we werent on such a bad run and were playing with a bit mroe confidence there could have been another goal or 2 for us.

Dunne given MOM on ESPN, Collins would have been my choice, but both were immense. Credit to Clark and Cuellar too. I would still put Walker back in against Wigan though for the simple reason that he offers us more going forward. It will also be interesting to see if Makoun gets a start. I suspect he will start on the bench unless there were injuries picked up today.

Lastly, how things have changed for Jimmy M in  the space of 6 months. From being the golden boy of English football, to making a move for eye-watering money, to being barely noticed in his "homecoming" game where his arse collected splinters and the 2 new-multi-million-signing-kids on the block, Dzeko and Bent, took any fading limelight he may have had on him. I dont mean to say it in a gloating way, just is remarkable how football is going. He cant be one bit happy how this move has turned out for him, unless the money makes it all ok.

Spot on and good post.

You sort of in way feel sorry for Milner making a naive decision to join Abu Dhabi Superstars, on the flip side of the coin it was hilarious watching Barry waddle off being subbed. Respect him as a player but he certainly irked (putting it mildly) a lot of Villa fans.

Can't stop watching Bent's goal yesterday.

It just seems so surreal, it feels like I'm having a beautiful dream except I haven't woken up yet...

We're all feeling this my friend. This result against this team is more satisfying to me than any win over Blouse since they came back up. Well, the first time we beat them in the PL and the 5-1 come very close indeed, but even that just felt like re-establishing the way things are meant to be, there was a kind of irresistable inevitability about it. This win against Man City  feels like the first time we've struck back in a true war, after all they've done to usurp our position both directly and indirectly, after all the bollocks with the way they approach transfers, Garry F***king Cook, everything - we finally hit back.

We now have the TOP scorer in the premier league for the last 5 years, same rung as Rooney and Drogba, and they both cost their respective clubs a shitload more.  Well done DB, I don't care that your "all round game is a D", you might be as lazy as Carew but at least you know where the net is.  Well done boys for the effort otherwise.

If Carlesburg were in charge of debut`s this was it. Was with two blue noses who kept telling me Bent was a waste of money !!!! Had some serious action with the misses. Does it get any better. Thank you Lord !!!!!!
