I know he is a blose and works for talkshite but I thought Ian Danter(?)was very good about Bent signing on Brazil show yesterday morning. Totally shut up Brazil's cheap jibes with very positive and correct  comments on why Villa should  sign him.

To be honest, Danter is always very, very fair on us when he talks about us. I know he's a nose, but he's also one of those who "gets" Midlands football as a whole. Neil Moxley is the same.

And, controversially, I also think Trevor Francis is very fair to us when he co-commentates on Football First. Certainly compared to some former Villa players - like Platt - who never seemed to have a good word to say about us.

Danter is based in the Midlands and so knows what is going on, the nationals get the likes of Oliver Holt spouting shite cos they only come and watch us when we play Chelsea.

I don't have a problem with Sunderland, they're a decent, big club with lots of history, but Christ almighty, that forum is an absolute embarassment.

They appear to have just deleted a load of threads, but when that mackem posted, I took a look at the forum, and there were about 20 new threads started within the previous ten minutes, each one consisting of a handful of posts all saying exactly the same thing.

Seems now that he wasn't that good after all, and they're better off without him. I wonder how many of them would have said that last week?

I know various people who used to coach at Wigan when Bruce was manager there, and most of them think he was a cock.

He was very popular amongst the staff at SHA.

And Brazil hates Villa since 1981.

That's many years of hate there.

I quite like Alan Brazil, he did give me his autograph in the mid 80s though, it does make me laugh whenever he mentions their 3 wins against us in 80/81, but is always respectful when the likes of Mortimer or Morley are on.

He does come up with a lot of good stories and he is so blazen when it comes to his freebies.

He used to talk a lot more about horse racing which I am particularly interested in, he doesn't do it as much now which is a shame as he had a great insight into it.

By definition they're all cocks too.

I think it pisses him off intensely that he just missed the multi-millionaire footballer era.

I like him in small doses, but horse racing isn't my bag !

Bent however, is going to be the King of The Holte End now.

Ian Taylor happier than SVC.

Nice to see randy and houllier having a warm embrace at training today, Faulkner was watching as well-'when bent scored a header randy turned round and shouted'now that's why we bought darren bent'.

The bit in bold above is wrong I'm afraid - it was about the money. Asked for a rise at the start of the season and didn't get it. If you're happy to pay him the reported £80k pw fair do's, but it's a massive amount of money to spending on one player over 4 years - in excess of £40m if my sums are right. Anyway a couple of bits of info for you - DB is a very sensitive soul who reacts badly to criticism - check out his Twitter account if you like - DB11TT - took the hump because we commented on one of our message boards (readytogo.net) about all of the chances he's missed in the last few games and it appears he loves to be Top Dog - form suffered once Gyan and Welbeck started performing. Don't believe the bullshit about 'loving the place', the people being 'fantastic' and wanting to stay with you for 'a long time' either.  ;)

Thanks for the insider view... but again, if he was happy at Sunderland, interest from another club is perfect ammunition to seek a wage increase (see good old John Terry for example). I'm sure it played a part, not convinced it was the only reason. I've read £70k a week, and we're not breaking our wage structure for him - and our need to reduce the wage bill is well documented so I don't believe we're paying him silly money.

BTW... was it true that Bent had handed in a transfer request once before at Sunderland?

To be honest, The Mackems are hurting and its understandable, so I'm personally paying little or no attention to the sour grapes and coming onto our boards attempting to piss on our chips as if we dont know what or who we're getting.

All we want from him is to score goals, not marry him. He will be idolised and worshipped at Villa if he does his job but one day it will end and we'll look to someone else or he'll move on *shrugs*. Same as it ever was.

We've had experience with this in recent years already. You learn from it. Players come and go.

Morning lads, SAFC supporter here. No axe to grind, no bitching to be done - after all - it's a cracking bit of business for us.  ;)

The bit in bold above is wrong I'm afraid - it was about the money. Anyway, good luck for the rest of the season.

Ned thanks  for the post. Always liked Sunderland fans. My best mate is from Sunderland but lives here now so whenever you are playing away in the Midlands I go with him and stand  sorry sit with your away fans. Great fun.
On DB yes he is like any modern footballer. Barry and Milner  did it to us and he has done it to you. I am afraid there is no loyalty or sympathy in the game now. Once he was available we had to get him and if that upsets anyone  well that's how it is.
I do agree with you  that this is good business for Sunderland.
Good luck for the rest of the season and keep that 6th place warm for us!
