Thought GH came across very well. He's starting to get his players in to play his style of football, we've seen glimpses, hopefully we can see it more consistently now and get some points on the board.

Bent will score goals, he always has done and with all due respect to Sunderland, I can't wait to see how many he'll get with Albrighton, Ash and Downing supplying....great great signing.

And among all the bitter comments, and there are gonna be a lot, none tops the interview in The Sun today with the Sunderland fanzine guy "he was our 3rd choice striker, he's not that good, maybe he can come and watch us next season in the Europa League when he could be the highest paid player in the Championship".

Welcome Darren, hero status away you....

When Ivanhoe's back it'll be him and Bent up front, and that will be very interesting, potentially terrific.

He certainly sounds happy enough and is saying all the right things.

He's been stood around all day waiting for the press conference.

He said he found out we'd made an offer on Sunday and immediately submitted a transfer request. That to me sounds like someone very happy to make the move.

Listen carefully and you can hear the bottom of a barrel being scraped. Press gangs were abolished some time in the 19th century - he's not being forced to sign for us.

Really pleaed with this signing.

I can see him being our record signing for many years to come. It'll be a long while before we spend that kind of money again I reckon.

Well he wasn't waving a villa scarf around his head and signing GH claret and blue army....but he looked a calm, composed, quietly spoken bloke...fuck me there are some bitter rivals out there....

I'm afraid some people will try to put a downer on this regardless of the truth.

If people (especially Villa fans) can't see this as being the most positive thing that's happened since the summer then they are either on the wind up or are insane.

I hope so, Gabby and Bent up front, young and albrighton on the wings, makoun and downing in the centre. Would love to see that on Saturday!

i dont think it would work either,
both players have little technique or close ball control but one scores loads of goals, which is the reason we just payed 18/24 mill

he needs to be paired with someone with a good first touch and an eye for a killer pass or through ball, whilst being able to make a contribution himse lf on the scoring front

Ireland ???

I thought GH showed a nice touch of humour at the start of the interview when he said to DB, you must be popular because there wasnt this many here when I came   :)
