As much as I would like Bent here, £24m seems a lot of dollar.

For that money, we should be looking at Benzema and Luis Suarez to name but two.

Unless of course, they're plan B and Plan C.

I was delighted when I heard that we had put in a bid for Bent...until I heard that we offered 18 million for him?!! Is it really that much?

I don't understand. We had no money for Martin. Now Martin is gone and we have money again, but we are going to blow most of it on a player who is really not much better than what we already have. Maby my brain just isn't quick enough to comprehend all this...

Wanna name the player we have who is as good as Bent?

Only  players have scored more Premier League goals than him in the last 5 years. If he signs it will be the first time we have a striker that could get 0 goals in a season for a long time

24 Million straight cash according to The Telegraph.

That's a teensy bit OTT if true, but bollocks to it, it's not my money!  People must have been maxing out their MBNA credit cards after Christmas!

About £12m OTT but as you say, it's not our money.  Exciting times ahead?

Exactly, theres only one person who's opinion matter's,and that the American with the cheque book. If he's happy to do the deal, then we all should be. Maybe someone should tell Stanley Victor that.

Why do people keep saying we had no money for MON?
Reading between the lines was it not a case of asking MON to get rid of the players he bought who were not good enough and didn't intend to play?

Wow, you really believe the papers, don't you? We had money, but o'neill didn't want to address the wages issue. So he flounced off like a big drama queen.

Telegraph are confirming fee at £24 m with no add ons - huge deal but a prolific proven scorer- fantastic deal, we had to pay over the odds to tempt them but we got a quality striker .

Think Heskey is averaging slightly over 0 goals a season but Gabby is on for 0 this season.

They're not confirming anything, they're guessing like the rest of them.

Incidentally, the other Villa transfer fees he mentions in the article (the Makoun fee and the Downing fee) the journalist gets wrong.

What suggests he is going to correct about this one?

It will be interesting to hear what Bent gets paid. Has to break the current wage bill to get anywhere near what he was on.

You get the impression Bent is desperate to sign for us which is a massive shot in the arm for us, it's not like Sunderland have been touting him around.

Get it done before anything goes wrong.

Source?

Everywhere.  More specifically Matt Kendrick has reported that the deal is done and he has signed til 2015.  ITK's on VT also backing this up and confirming it is 19 mil not 24.
