Mind you, I would rather clear out the drains than watch Small Heath against Coventry.
I was told today that since 1995, every FA Cup tie involving Newton Heath has been televised. Not sure how true it is but it wouldn't be a surprise. It's not about the potential of a good game, it's about viewing figures. The magic of the Cup comes some way behind the magic of advertising revenue.Mind you, I would rather clear out the drains than watch Small Heath against Coventry. They'll have a competition to decide who hates Aston Villa the most.Dickheads.

I think the truth is that ITV - and ESPN for that matter - will put one of the more "romantic" ties in the third round, but thereafter have to deliver the viewing figures to keep their advertisers happy and pay for what they themselves have had to cough up for the rights. In that context, whilst Swansea v Leyton Orient might have a certain appeal to your hardcore fan, you can see that all the other fixtures will deliver the viewers.
