I like the transfers where you only hear about it after it's happened. When was the last one like that?

1994 the eve of the internet.

Yep, before the internet it was mostly baseless promises on Teamtalk adverts on teletext.

Oh yeah I remember those, went something like:

*VILLA TO SIGN SUPERSTAR???*

Then you realised that having flicked through all the other teams pages it said exactly the same thing on theirs!

I think they might have been fibbing.....

I remember walking down New Street and one of the Meaning Evil stalls had "READ ABOUT VILLA"S NEW SIGNING", turns out we had just signed Sid for the 3rd time in his career.

That's annoyed me mow, I thought that you could register a player upto 24 hours before you play.

But now I read the deadline was noon today, ow well NRC and Petrov it is.

Never as bad as

VILLA SIGN WORLD CUP STAR

I ran to get a paper whilst semi engorged.

It was Colin Calderwood.

Now remember everyone. Once he in flies in, there will nothing whatsover on the OS. Then about 7pm (your time off course) there will be a picture of him stretching the shirt clearly taken 5 hours before next to a goalpost. Inevitably, this delay will cause mass panic and consternation, shortly followed by a massive collective exhale.

Nothing on the OS at 9pm, will they leave it late or will the press conference and standard photo of JM standing next to goalpost happen tomorrow or Monday?

Come on lets get this done and we can move onto the next signing!
