I agreed with Houllier that the midfield was the biggest issue, we have no creativity and no steel in there, and Makoun alongside Adam seemed like quite a good solution to me. I do hope he has 2-3 other targets in there, even if they are more expensive and I hope he is backed to get them.

Well, well.  It seems that neither Bridge nor Makoun wants to join us and Holloway thinks that Adam leaving Blackpool for Villa would be a step down.  Surprising that Houllier's charisma didn't sway the deal.  Hmmm.   Whatever anyone says about MON or Houllier, this is an absolute fuck up of a season and GH needs to pull something out of the bag soon.  What has happened to our club?  Even Blues seem to have more appeal to players than we do at the moment.  Disappointing stuff.

Houllier has missed out on this fella after flying out to France to meet up with him? Must of been an inspiring sales pitch.

A lost this weekend will be the final nail in the coffin.

I wouldn't bet on it. The complacency high up in the club is very worrying.

So lets recap.

We can't sign a 19 year old from Le Havre.

We can't sign a midfielder from Blackpool  (who 5 years ago were in League One).

Wayne Bridge chooses West Ham and Avram Grant over us.

A player who's at a club thats trying to force him out to free up money looks like he doesn't want to join.

Do you think Houllier's in touch with the modern game and in this instance showing good knowledge of how the transfer market works?

Is this another example of his apparent inability to connect with players in the modern game ? (I think so - who's the last one of our squad to come out in praise and support of the manager?).

19 year old failed a medical

Adam from Blackpool has gone nowhere yet

Wayne Bridge moved to be closer to his child

How recent is the SSN thing about us being on the verge of signing him? Hopefully it's still on. Sadly, it looks like he'd rather be at a settled club, and not in a relegation dog fight.

Only a newspaper report so far so let's not panic- we would have had keane, Barton, lewis, samba, Adam, rodellega, van bommel, and a whole load more if the newspapers had been right.

Let's hope makoun at least comes over and sees the ground and he will hopefully be swayed .

A story broke on a French site at half five our time.

Who knows what is happening yet. Brinkmanship on his part for an extra wedge?
