Matt Kendrick is saying it's £5m with add ons possibly rising to £6.5m. I doubt the international clearance will be through in time for Sunday.

Lyon boss Claude Puel speaking on John Makoun’s transfer to Villa:
“We all know what Jean brought to the team. It was important, it is important.
“There are considerations that a club must take into account including financial ones, and I take them into account.
“For the moment, Jean has not left. If he is still here on Saturday I would see in which frame of mind he is in.
“I do not see why I would deprive myself of him – he has always been reliable.”

I just hope Houllier's not continuing his less than spectacular record of signing overpriced and less than effective France based players which he was known for at Liverpool.

You mean like Sinama Pongolle and Anthony Le Tallec for example?

No, apparently this guy can play...........when he wants to.

Hopefully if he joins, this is exactly the kind of midfielder we need in the middle of the park. Someone who can move the ball forward but also win it back.

Salifou will have to give up his squad number if Makoun signs. Makoun wears 17 in honour of his close friend, the late Marc-Vivien Foe.

Salifou has a squad number? A bit like Stephen Hawking having a skipping rope.

In some ways i'm glad, I wouldn't want him to have a debut against that shower of shit.
They'd probably kick him up in the air and injure him.

If he's so good then why are Lyon prepared to let him go when they've qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League?

The fans don't like the manager, who paid a lot for him and he is seen as the favourite, so they don't like him, and now he wants out. Is the way it has been hashed in the papers anyway.
