According to L'Equipe, he cost 14m€ two and a half years ago but will join us for 6m€, plus 3m€ performance related. Why would they accept a loss on a 27 year old?

Only 18 months on his contract, and maybe he has said he wants to come and play for Houllier. Player power and all that.

May be like few other clubs around Europe they have overspent and now need to make budget ajustments.

I will be very happy if Houllier pulls Makoun in  ;D Now all we need is a Goalscorer upfront easier said than done though !

18 months left on his deal, same as Young.

Played in France for years so probably decided he now wants to test himself in the prem, like so many of his African buddies.

Why did we pay 10 million for Davies? And now we are trying to sell him for 3 million!

This is the sort of signing that will hopefully convince some to give houllier a chance- another 3 quality signings and we will soon move up the table!

Encouraging looks like fee agreed but not personal terms. The way this season is going plenty of opportunity for it to still go tits up.

Iv'e never heard of him. I'm a bit like our old manager I have no idea outside of England but not like our old manager I will trust in those who say that players from abroad know how to play football. Bring him in if he's good.
I'm quite excited about Houllier having a chance to mould the team to suit his brand of football.

Last transfer thread Dave started was Heskey was it not?

I'm happy with this signing anyway. Right age, wealth of experience and has the attributes we require. Think he and Adam would be a very capable partnership in the middle (providing we get them both) and with Petrov offering an experienced alternative and Bannan, Delph, Hogg and Gardner waiting in the wings.
