This game is all about spirit and desire. If the players are behind Houllier then this is the game to measure it by. If this game is won i really think the whole season can be turned around ..........Scum 0 - Villa 2 Gabby Carew ...

A win today will do wonders for our relegation scrap. The way we've been playing I'd settle for a draw, but really only three points will do.

It's likely to be a horrible game, they'll be trying to keep it tighter than a gnat's chuff. Any kind of dirty scruffy goal will do for me but we have to win.

0-1, Gabby 77 mins, followed by 15 mins of whiteknuckle insanity. Enjoy.

I am off now to the Sty to stick my snout in the trough with their "fans" or their corporate types. Catering is  about Witton Road chicken and chips at 1.99 standard. OK apologies to  the decent honest food vendors of Witton Road!

Anyone else feeling that this match is so important in league terms that the local derby aspect is diminished?

I would feel every bit as nervous today if we were playing Wigan..

I feel very nervous. I think it says a lot that I'm really hoping for a MON type performance: 4-4-2, tight at the back, no silly mistakes, good shape. That's not the long term future, but it certainly wouldn't get us relegated.

Yep for sure, the league positions right now make this a really big game, maybe season defining.  The local factor makes it massive.

I'm not overly confident either.  2-0 them.

It's a massive game on every front, and our recent record in massive games doesn't fill me with confidence. If we win, it could be a turning point.

Uninspiring game with 0-0 written all over it, until on 87 minutes Gabby (who will have been otherwise quiet all game) pops up with the winner. Thank you and goodbye.

I agree. The only added bit of nervousness is due to me worrying about being glassed at some point today.
