Do you get over often Ger? I've only been four times...hoping to get over much more often when I am not poor!
Had a season ticket when I was living in London during the 07 / 08 season, then a half-season ticket the season after (when I was back living in Galway). Been over 3 times this season (West Ham, Blues and Baggies). Bloody expensive business though, reckon I've spent the guts of the cost of a season ticket on those 3 games alone.....

That's real dedication Ger, fair play to you. It's expensive for sure. I'm hoping to make it to a game before the end of the season too. It's always great to see so many villa supporters on the flights over.

For sheer excitement I loved the old cup marathons that just kept going to replay after replay until someone won - and in the Lge Cup of 76-77 we had two three-game epics all played in front of packed crowds. Three games v QPR in the semis, and then three in the final v Everton which was a compelling three game series that got better as it went on. A 0-0 bore at Wembley, 1-1 and a slightly better game at Hillsborough, then a 2nd replay at Old Trafford that defined the word "excitement". One of those games that took you through every range of emotion as it swung one way then the other, with drama, controversy, great football, memorable goals and a 3-2 win for us.

One of the most exciting league games I can remember was earlier that same season when we stormed back to beat ManU 3-2 at home. Andy Gray scored twice, his winner was a soaring header after Ray Graydon pulled the ball back form the byeline. Afterwards Gray gave the Vs big-time to the ManU fans on the Witton End. What a centre-forward he was.

Bradford City away 87/88.

Seconded. This was a top of the table clash in the old 2nd div under SGTMk1

We won 4-2 but what a game.

2 debut goals - Andy Gray (the black one) & Stuart Gray
2 pens conceded (Steve Simms - say no more)
Also starring The Futcher Twins, Ormandroyd - for them, the new Bradford stand following the fire, Bruno, Lillis and a dangerously overcrowded away end

Happy Days

I'll go for an odd one.

Villa 3 - 4 Charlton, last home game of the 98/99 season. They had to win to stand any chance of staying up and we were still going for Europe. Danny Mills scored a last minute winner for them.

Didn't Barnsley also beat us by something similar when they stayed up?

Anyway as much as it should be Tranmere I'd have to go with the Evrton 3-2. Had it all. Early goal, all Everton pressure, last-minute equaliser, pub full of people turning to laugh at me as my pissed head was in my pissed hands, and then Ash...I can still vividly remember my celebrations as i danced, jumped and whooped excitedly (pissedly) about the pub.

Coming back from 2-0 against Arsenal in 98, the game the santa parachuted into the trinity road stand.  Not because of the santa thing, just because it was the first game i remember us coming back like that, and getting back to the top of the league against the champions

Has to be Tranmere. It is hard too explain to anyone who wasn't at Villa park that day what an emotional rollercoaster it was. The 6-4 v Blackburn dosen't even come close.

It would have to be beating Inter Milan 2-0, I'll never forget the atmosphere and Kent's screamer from that night.
I would love to have seen the Tranmere match from a terrace instead of the TV I must admit, that must have been one hell of game live.

I'll go for an unusual one.

It was a 3-3 draw at home to Manchester United during 1986-87, the last season that we were relegated. We seemingly were dead and buried at 3-1 down, yet despite this came back. Allan Evans equalised late on with a penalty at the Holte End.

That's a really good shout for a game to remember - i'm also pretty sure that this was November 1986 and was Sir Alexs first game in charge (or maybe his 2nd).
