I can see us getting a third on the break.

Me too.  Need to get the useless Frenchman off (and Pires! snigger) and Downing on.
Pires has, once again, been shite.

Which was the point I was trying to make when I saw the team sheets.

We desperately need someone who can put their foot on the ball to slow and calm things down. We always look paniced when we win the ball in our own half and end up hoofing it or losing it.

Pires looked upset to be subbed.  I think in his head he's still playing for Arsenal 6 years ago.

I suspect GH said to hm after his moan to the papers "ok, go out there and do it, then" and he's patently failed to do so.

He fouled a player who'd just robbed him of the ball and was about to make a clean getaway, it happens sometimes.

Seriously, what has Pires offered that Ireland couldn't at least have matched in this game?

Good point, poor Management.
