PIRES

'' From what I've understood, there have been several meetings between Gerard and the players who didn't really agree with him."

Oh dear.

Very odd interview, that.

Hardly sounds like a glowing endorsement of the manager - a manager who actually signed him.

Two games to save his job? Possibly. But you wouldn't want your own players saying that.  It's almost written from a detached, neutral perspective. As if he's not actually a Villa player. Which will probably be the case soon enough, in fairness.

this is just a re run of what was said in the press a couple of weeks ago! The players looked together to me on sunday, we have more than enough to get out of this!

At the moment all I can recall of Pires in a Villa shirt is him getting off with a number of Arsenal players in the tunnel prior to the match at Villa Park.

I think that is the way to look at it. A few neutral comments put together with added Sky spin.

So far Pires has been far more active in the press than on the pitch!

Maybe Pires is looking for a way out after realising he's made a mistake.

I hope we've seen the last of him.  It was worthwhile taking a punt on him at the time, but it's clear he has nothing to offer whatsoever.

After finally managing to show some togetherness and spirit on Sunday, and get a very important point, and with an essential game tonight, this is the absolute last sort of thing we need to be reading, really.

It's actually been quite embarrasing when he's on the pitch.
Supposed to be 37 but he wanders around like Abe Simpson.

You may not want to read it or think about it but its right. He'd be gone if we finished the week in the bottom 3 and out of the cup wouldn't he?
