I would have gone for a 4-5-1!

I think I might have done, too. But, I suppose this is a slightly more adventurous set-up at least - not necessarily what you might expect from Houllier.

My day started with having to unblock my drains.  I suspect it's not the only crock of shit I'll see today.  Off to the pub to suffer with like-minded spirits

I would have gone for a 4-5-1!

Can someone explain to me why he rushed Delph back to start him last week and he not been seen since after (I thought) a good game?

I am not certain Houllier has a clue really but anyway its not a bad side, still get overrun in midfield though, although we shouldn't concede from set pieces (famous last words).

Delph took a knock and isn't being risked

I read earlier Delph picked up a knock against City. Unrelated to last injury-just shit luck i think....

That back four could be good or it could be an absolute disaster.

Still, plenty of height for set-pieces.

as much a I want a result, I want to see green shoots of progress. That is evidence of team unity, cohesiveness and fight. We might lose against Chelsea. I can take that. As long as we go down giving it everything we have.

That's what today is about. We can hope for but can't expect a win. A performance is the minimum requirement.

Agree with TV and Villadawg, much as it makes us sound like some little team...which is what I have never escaped from thinking about Chelsea despite all their success. Big one for me, a 'local derby' in effect as I am surrounded by the gloryhunting chavs round here. Possibly my most hated club if I was really pushed...

If we get tonked today, and I mean really tonked, 6,7,8 - god forbid - 9 or 10, could Ged really hang onto his job. I think it would become impossible for him to retain any sense of support from anyone connected to AVFC.

Today could be a very interesting day!

Lads we have won fuck all playing 451, against arsenal second half we were great playing 442.

We need to keep the ball in their half, this is easier with 2 strikers.

Ged says that Dunne looks fitter in training, maybe he's laid off the pies.
