Its a boxing day game at home shoved back to 5.30 for the Sky TV cameras for the third time on the trot so, I couldn't give a toss if its called off. It would be nice to see a home game on the 26th december kicking off in daylight, I hope every game Sky has shoved back over the festive period gets called off serve them right tossers.

Agreed.

I understand that there is a lot of snow, I  also understand that at the moment the roads are awful and I finally understand that there is some more snow on the way.  However, why is this seemingly certain to be called off?.

The pitch will be fine, the stands will be fine, it's just a case of working together, like Man City did last night to clear the necessary walkways, pavements, entrances etc.   If that is done, then like most of the Heineken Cup Rugby matches at the weekend, this should go ahead surely?.

People can then make their own minds up as to whether or not they want to travel to the game or watch it on TV.

There's no public transport so the roads and car parks will be more over worked. There are 3000 who need to travel from London. They haven't had the same amount od snow in the nort west. It's played late so the pitch has more chance of freezing. Rugby isn't played with the ball on the ground so isn't a valid comparison. Who do you suggest gives up their Christmas to clear the surrounding area, are you willing to volunteer?

Chris, I didn't say it was going to be easy to get the game on, far from it.  But I personally don't think we should just give up.

This is England Dave, of course we should just give up.

The thing is, no matter who's fault it is and whether we should be better prepared etc. etc....if the transport system is still fucked up on Boxing Day should we really be throwing an extra unnecessary 40,000 people onto it?
It's only a footy match, it won't matter much in the grand scheme of things if we play it a  bit later on!

Unless there is a monumental downpoor of snow which is not predicted then the game will go ahead. The problem is that the met office can more easily predict rain sun and wind than snow. Snow clouds block out the satelites, they have no idea when or where they will precipitate. So lets pretend its on

0-1.

No idea who will score but I'm convinced it'll be a defensive fuck up and we'll miss numerous chances to equalise.

I hope the Man City game at Newcastle goes ahead so they will have had a long trip two days before playing us. Although if it is postponed, Toure will be suspended against us.

Seen Tottenham play a few times this season and when they are motivated and going forward they are really, really good. I think we'll battle hard, but will fall well short in the quality stakes. They've outplayed us a few times over the course of the last couple of seasons and we've got away with some lucky points on occasion, but I think it will be beyond Villa this year unfortunately. Away win.

It's people's pathetic acceptance of that fact that has us in that position.

Sky don't help anyone break the top four, they only help in keeping the top four, the top four. They inventing the stupid term.

Aye. Never had it. And you're a mug if you do, especially when you consider they get much better coverage abroad for less money. You can sit down and watch any of the saturday kick-offs live on some of their foreign subscription services while the people who pay for thier empire can't.

You can also get off your arse and go to watch the team you support.

Whilst I agree with what you say, you only have to look at the results this season to see that anybody can beat anybody. The deciding and winning factor for me is teams that go out there without fear of the opposition, are more likely to come away with 3 points. Everton at Man City on Monday being the latest example.

That's abit of ignorance there, the facts are they are our main income therefore dictate  the kick off times, we should be happy we are regarded as a top team.
I have no problem with different kickoff times every week it brings abit of variety to football.
I personally think an evening kick off creates a better atmosphere and let's face it Villa Park has been shocking for about a year now.
