I'm tired of Warnock's lack of ability. GH already mentioned the LB spot as something that needed to be addressed. I hope somewhere out there tucked away in the depths of French football is the new Evra.

None of them are shit players though.

Dunnie really should be dropped and told to come back when the scales show he's fit and as for Warnock, who else have we got ?

Massive togetherness required - it's motivation time par excellence for M. Houllier.

Luke to left back and Lihaj in at right back ?

Young is bad enough at right back at the moment, changing him to left back a la MON wouldn't work for me

I think Young at LB would be a more solid option than Warnock anywhere on the pitch at the moment.

You have a point I guess.

What's happened to the Warnock of 2009 ?

Complacency ?

Most of the original post is way over the top, IMO, but lack of discipline comes in several forms and I'd say Warnock is showing a lack of discipline with his habit of diving in to challenges. Whatever happened to staying on your feet? There seems a desperation about his play which you'd expect of an 18-year-old novice, but a late-20 something England squad regular. Dunne's not too far off, either.

I do wonder whether Warnock needs to be rested, and we go with solidity by having Young at LB, with Lichaj or Beye at RB. or even Cuellar at RB and Young LB.

I know this may be stretching things, but what about Clark at left back ?

Not for Saturday. He's suspended.

Clark at left back would work for me, being left footed it would give us balance, maybe when NRC returns it could be tried, or even Hogg and Bannan in the middle ala Man U and Clark at left back.  To be fair the last home match v Arsenal Warnock was considerable better than L Young on the day, though I accept in the 3 recent away defeats this was the other way round.

It might help if Warnock had a bit of support down the left from the midfield. As it is, he's generally on his own and may go some way to explain his desperate, last man defending.

The thing that annoys me most is the opposition know that they don't have to fear being tackled by our midfield. Any idea when NRC is back? We sorely miss him. We can't play Downing, Ireland and Ashley in the same side, it's far too wimpish and lightweight, teams are just dominating the midfield and walking through us. The defence may show signs of improvement when they have a bit more protection.

defending starts from the front line, these defenders are being run ragged every week, this is why mon used to play cueller behind ashley so on and so forth

I'm still pinning my hopes on us being able to reproduce the Manu performance. We haven't been able to play the same side since then. It might be misplaced but there were so many good things about that game that I don't want us to throw away the baby with the bathwater.

Looking at Warnock he doesn't seem 100% fit, every challenge he makes he seems to get up quite gingerly from, if he is playing through injuries it might explain why he is so poor this season compared to last, not sure how is going to get 100% at the moment though, the same I think is happening to James Collins.
