Very cynical deej.

There's a pun in there screaming to get out.

They must have coughed up a load of Doha

It was a well oiled bid, I suppose.

I listened to the England presentation on Radio 5 yesterday morning and the following couple of hours, hosted by Victoria Derbyshire was some of the worst radio I've heard in a long time. People claiming to be "in tears" and "so emotional" after the presentation. That Elbow tune constantly played and hyperbole that made the start of X-Factor look understated.
At one point they went to Peter Allen who was in Zurich, he immediately played it all down and reminded everyone of the realistic chances of the England bid given the way FIFA work. Derbyshire was agahst that Allen didn't join in her flag waving sickly schtick and at one point said "stuff Peter Allen". Never mind Panorama, the Beeb should be held to account for employing dippy bints like Derbyshire when they should be employing journalists and broadcasters.

I would loved to have seen her face after Sepp said Russia.

Personally, I think it's not english people per se that are arrogant, it's more the press.

I am going to respond in tit-for-tat fashion by alleging that the Irish talk a load of shit

Do you mean "useless gobshites"?

The thing that irrritated me was the comment that FIFA wanted to give the tournament to 'New Countries" who have not hosted previously.

So why ask (allow) us to spend Millions and three years creating the presentation!?

Apparently Qatar are going to build all their new stadiums in a country the size of Manchester and then give the stadiums to Africa, that's where we've been going wrong all these years, doing famine appeals for food and water, what they really need is an 80,000 all seater with air-conditioning.

Yes that is what they really need. ::) :'( Qatar is not a country in fact  not even a City by world standards. A pointless place on this earth full of inbred racists!

Will the teams who qualify be playing on plastic pitches in sub zero temperatures in Russia then suffering of heat exhaustion in the desert?

It always makes me want to gag when certain sectors of the media cack on about our "best league in the world", when actually, it is nothing of the sort.

It is definitely the best marketed league in the world, but nothing like the best league. Not in terms of competitiveness or the players in it. Which of the very best players in the world play in our league? People like Ronaldo go from Man United to Real Madrid, not the other way around.

Fucked national team, clubs in debt, pathetic world cup bids, falling attendances, absurd ticket prices, wages spiralling out of control ..... our game is headed for a big fall pretty soon, and I can't help thinking the sooner the better, as what comes out of it at the other end might actually be much better than what we have now.

Agreed. A big part fo the problem is that somehow they convince the masses to believe that bollocks. Like our shit doesn't stink. I live in Toronto, and here the Toronto Maple Leafs (ice hockey) are the same as the English national team. They last won the Holy Grail (Stanley Cup) in 1967, yet honest to God, every year they will have you believe this is the year. The arrogance that spews from the organization, and their blinded fans is obnoxious at best. Being somewhat of an outsider now I see a lot the same with English football, and English football fans. We're not humble, and the little Englander mentality, and the perception that we are not tolerant of "Johnny Foreigner" doesn't go down well when it comes to being part of the global community.

Do I think FIFA is corrupt? Yes, Sepp Blatter is repulsive, and you know back handers take place all the time. I just think as a nation, if we are ever to get major football tournaments like the World Cup we have to become a lot more humble and accepting of our place in football. Our national game is in the shitter. I said just after the World Cup that France would bounce back far quicker than England because they got rid of the twat in charge, and already had a solid system in place to develop kids. Until as a nation we start to develop our game from the grass roots like Spain did, and realize that the glitz and glamour of our domestic is really a complete con, it will always be case of painting over rotting wood.

One day on I still cannot believe that Qatar has been given the 2022 WC.

Surely the rest of the world's FAs should stand and be counted and say NO.    FIFA rated their bid as "high risk" and then gave it to them.   I would like England to start the ball rolling and I really dont care if we get banned from this and that.   Time to make a stand.  I can see plenty of other FAs who would join the boycott.

Yes, very good....

The point is simply, that if FIFA have certain criteria for selection of hosts for the next World Cup - announce it early and welcome bids from appropriate Countries. And those Countries only.

Yes, those pesky journalists, exposing corruption. Bastards!

Couldn't the BEEB put the show out next week, month or year? As far as I can see FIFA is like some secret society if you smear one member you smear them all!

You say it like its a good thing.
