On Qatar - do we really want our teams playing in 105F + temperatures?   WTF?

I'd quite like to see Terry, Cole et all suffering in those kinds of temperatures.

Sadly by 2022 they will be in the Pundits studio.

perhaps england should set up a summer tournament at the same time featuring all the premier league teams and invited teams from other leagues ?
not just europe, china, latin america etc - that would piss fifa off

8 groups of 4 teams, group stages then a knockout, top 8 teams in PL get home advantadge for group stages

could make a mint

Yeah, rambling on about the excessive heat being the reason why Jack Wilshere can't perform like he does day in and day out in the New Premiership of Europe.

It isn't the fact that we lost, it;s the fact that we never had a chance to win.  Blatter and co milked the Beckham, William, Cameron kudos in the knowledge that it would look good for FIFA (spit) even though we were never going to get it.

Or just maybe they were just totally ambivalent about them.

Are you serious?  There is not one organisation in the world that couldn't use that kind of endorsement and if you think that FIFA don't know that then you are wrong.  They milked it big time.  The mere presence of those people has given a huge amount of credibility to FIFA at a time when they most need it.

Quote from Sepp Blatter.

'Undoubtedly what sealed England's fate was the mindless and barbaric behaviour of Birmingham City fans in last nights game.  This shocked a lot of the voting committee into thinking the scourge of English football has still not been eradicated.'

Not surprised at Russia getting the vote, that was always on the cards. Given FIFA's recent history of trying to bring football to a wider audience & the availability
bungs it was always going to happen.

QATAR - WHAT THE FUCK, TRUELY ASTOUNDING.
Football in June in the desert

Interesting read from this website....

http://www.qatarvisitor.com/index.php?cID=413&pID=1081

"Hottest average temperatures in Qatar peak at around 41 Celsius in June and July. Of course, that doesn’t reflect what it is really like to be out in the sun in the middle of the day when temperatures can reach or pass 50 degrees Celsius.

It’s also worse in the city, where air-conditioners pump cold air into the houses but hot air into the city.

The towns are also located in the coastal areas, where there is greater humidity. EVERYONE WHO CAN LEAVES QATAR IN THE SUMMER."

I suppose you have a point, it's a bit like when you take your kids to Disneyland.  "Look kids, there's Micky Mouse, and Goofy and Donald Duck, let's get your picture taken with them and get their autographs".  Then you walk away and think to yourself, they're just people in suits.

A very good point.

Regardless of ones own personal thoughts on Cameron he is British PM. Having him Brand Beckham and HRH so keen to impress FIFA which -to all intents and purposes- is still a boys club must have made them feel really important.

That's a bit harsh.

The only thing that's good about it is it makes Cameron and the tories look like twerps.  No bad thing.
