If FIFA are as corrupt as is alleged, we will never get the World Cup anyway because the FA would never do what is required.  At least I hope they wouldn't.

If that is the case, and it may well be, then we shouldnt be wasting public money bidding for it in the first place.

Agreed. It does make me wonder what we've agreed to sign up for in order to host the Olympics.

I hope the Netherlands and Belgium win it! It's near, it would be a great laugh and according to the Dutch government they'd end up losing money for hosting it, not us. Win! Win! Win!

If tge Panaroma report is correct then we would never relax our visa regime in order that FIFA can let all and sundry come in. That is to show their friends in certain areas that they can come and go as they please. Although visas will be handed out more favurably for those travelling to the World Cup we will not just hand over powers that are very strict.

Good on the BBC for not bowing to pressure and to their reporters for doing the job they entered their profession for.

So, just because there was pressure on the BBC (not to derail a bid to bring the World Cup to England and thus deny hundreds of thousands of football fans and licence fee payers possibly the only chance of they'll ever get to witness it live), they were right not to bow to it? There is always pressure on people and organisations not to do bad things, so should they just do them anyway, rather than 'bow' to it?

If anyone is inspired to become a reporter by the prospect of exposing FIFA as corrupt, I've got something even more inspirational for them regarding the toilet habits of bears and the possibility of the Pope being a Catholic.

Bitterly amusing to watch the Beeb desperately trying to claw back some credibility after its spinelessness over the illegal Iraq War.

The MPs expenses scandal allowed it to make a come-back of sorts

Now they have annoyed Cameron over the FIFA corruption issue. They should annoy him some more by calling him the war criminal he is.

I see Putin has decided not to attend Zurich.  He probably knows its in the bag, Abromovich has supplied the bungs and he has threatened the heavies if they don't get it.  We never stood a chance.

We shouldn't demean ourselves by sending the PM and heir to the thrown to beg to a bunch of criminals.

Have you seen the England World Cup Presentation video?

All geared around the top 4 with a bit of Spurz and Man City in there as well.

What a load of crap.

There was a piece in the Independent at the weekend about how FIFA travel around the world insisting on being fawned over in 5 star hotels etc.  Not an exposee as such  - just a statement of what their world is like.  I don't think there is any chance of us winning the bid.  Blatter would rather eat his own shit than see England get the WC. Our bid is so good - stadia and infrastructure in place, public and government backing etc - it will be our downfall. It will go to Russia on the basis that their crumbling stadia will be resurrected so the bid will be seen to leave a legacy. The only legacy our bid offers is debt to pay for it.  I would prefer the Times and Panorama not to have publicised their findings as they will take the rap should our bid fail.  It would have been better to wait until after the result of the bid and then go in all guns blazing for a full exposusre of the depth of FIFA's corruption.  Only thing is it would just look like sour grapes.
Hate to say I told you so but I told you so

If the rumours are true that we were knocked out in the first round of voting thenm that is a bit of a joke.

Interesting that a country allegedly controlled by the Russian Mafia won the Fifa votes

All the crooks joined together.
Either that or the Blues fans ruined our chances

i really do hope now that the media investigate these crooks further and really go to town on them...

platinis comments the other day about how the media would influence their voting was a disgrace from a horrid little man...

Probably didn't vote for us as they knew this country would make a balls up of it, let's face it, we've got form.
