Perhaps this might help?

Much better

Opening post on the Match Thread, perhaps?

Good idea. We could then do with some inspirational footage from a previous hard fought away win. Perhaps a last minute winner after being pegged back to 2-2. But what could we possibly use?

"Although keen to stress that supporters should not overstep the mark in tomorrow's potentially explosive fixture, he has urged the Birmingham fans to make Villa's players "nervous and apprehensive" to give his team every chance of progressing to the semi-finals."

What he really means is that he knows his team is shit so he has to try desperate things off the pitch, it is however amusing how he NEEDS to tell the noses to make some noise. I think the 600 odd Ajax fans that were at Villa Park a couple of seasons ago were more intimidating than the 23 thousand rabble which will be in the sty tommorow night. The sty is a hostile ground? Child Please.

"We are looking for the fans to be at their best that we have seen in the history of Blues supporters," the manager said. "The reputation they've gained over the years is being hostile and volatile, but not in a nasty way. Night matches are special. I actually saw the Blues-Villa game a few years ago, and it was a fantastic atmosphere. It's when I really saw the Blues fans in all their glory."

"Not in a nasty way"?

The reputation they've 'gained' is that of being a bunch of anachronistic, witless, eighties throwback, vile, burberry wearing retards.

That's about as nasty (and depressing) as it gets.

The Mirror;

Police fear Birmingham derby can scupper World Cup bid

West Midlands Police will be out in force at tonight's Second City Carling Cup derby to prevent thugs ruining England's World Cup bid.

Birmingham's games with bitter rivals Aston Villa have been marred by violence since City were promoted in 2002.

The clubs meet this evening in the first night match since 2003 after their League clashes were moved to a lunchtime kick-off.

But since then a fan was also killed in April 2008 when run over outside Villa Park and there were seven arrests after the last derby in October.

Organisers of England's 2018 team fear the prospect of FIFA officials waking up to vote tomorrow after a night of violence in the Midlands.

Now around 500 cops are due at the game and misbehaving fans have been threatened with life bans.

Police superintendent Steve Graham, match day commander, said: "Local derbies always are policed accordingly.

"Anyone arrested for football related matters will also be subject of applications of football banning orders which will prevent them from attending future fixtures.

"We have worked with Birmingham City and Aston Villa to ensure that this event takes place in a trouble-free and safe environment.

"Thousands of avid supporters will attend the match to enjoy the spectacle and atmosphere of a local derby, however we acknowledge that there may be a minority who will seek to use the occasion as an excuse to cause trouble.

"My message to this minority is that there will be a high-visibility operation on the day and we will take a robust stance against anyone whose behaviour falls foul of the law."

Not sure. There might be something, somewhere...

Is it just me thinking this is "Blackburn take 2" and that the game will be called off after all the hype??

One ought to feel pity. He's thick. You only have to look at him to realise that...

McLeish is a twat - apologies if posted earlier.

He's starting to get cocky lately, in the same way that Bruce Merrick did a few years ago.
Remember your place Alex, you won't be there forever I can assure you.

I just hope we pull a win out of somewhere, it's going to be pretty depressing round here if we don't.

Have we been practising penalties ?

Practising our defending would be better, we never look capable of a clean sheet.
