Downing has been our best player this season, we don't want a situation were the players are uneasy to play there own game because the crowd might get on there backs.

Yesterday was the first game of the season where he wasn't one of the best performers.  Some people just never warm to players.

I suppose that you were on McGrath's back when he was having a bad time as well.

When he was playing awful, when he was on the pitch pissed, when his form was dismal, he was still 2 classes above anyone else on the pitch so I'd doubt it

True enough.

I can't think of a single winger though who does. Or is expected to.
