From LFCs os;

He told his post-match press conference: "The fans were good. I appreciated the fact that they chanted my name at the end. It shows they can remember.

"There was also a banner at the start of the game. I was not emotional but I was extremely touched by that."

He added: "It's difficult to say but I prefer to lose 3-0 to Liverpool because I like Liverpool.

General

What do you make of the following comments attributed to our manager:

He added: "It's difficult to say but I prefer to lose 3-0 to Liverpool because I like Liverpool.

"I knew at 2-0 it would be difficult to come back. Had we scored maybe it would have been different.

"The first goal stunned us and the second one was vital because it meant the game was over. After that we took time to get back in the game. We didn't start playing.

"We finished the first half well and in the second half we did better. But we conceded a third goal on the break and that was it. Well done to Liverpool."

For all those people slagging Houllier for waving at the Kop and not acknowledging his own fans well I'm a bit pissed off he didn't seem to acknowledge us but how can you acknowledge fans who spent the best part of the second half of the match taking the piss out of their own team.

That last line should be his last spoken as manager of Aston Villa FC

Bit of sanity please.
Randy under normal circumstances is unlikely to sack a manager, and he's hardly likely to do so, so early on in Houllier's Villa career, no matter how useless he's looking.
He doesn't strike me the sort who will admit a mistake so obviously.
I'm sure eventually we will get the normal palliative, rhetorical messages about pulling together, injuries, to key players, and so on, so calm down.
We are now in a damage limitation exercise, requiring calm heads and cool thinking, its one we've had before, under the likes of Turner, Neal, o'Leary and so on, we have to hold council and hope we don't go down in the time it takes for common sense to prevail and a new manager found.
Is that not right General ?
Mind you I have to admit if Houllier seemed half as committed to Villa as he seems to the memory of Liverpool I'd be happier.
O'Neill must be laughing his socks off.

All these posters up in arms over Houlliers comments  & response to the Liverpool fans  , get over yourself he's gone back to somewhere he had good times, fair play to him.

He has done nothing wrong .  How many Managers comment on their own fans after a game.

I agree. Now can we sack the twat....

Oh i agree with that, get rid ASAP   .

Just cant see why people are so up in arms  .

Unacceptable.

If anyone on the board think's that kind of attitude is acceptable, or is in line with what Villa fans expect, you've grossly misread the situation.

Our team still wouldn't score from it though.

So our manager believes that being 2-0 down after 16 minutes means the game is lost?
Shame Alex Ferguson doesn't have such a losing mentality so as we'd be 4 points clear of the drop zone now.

Not as much as most have misread his comment.
