Footballer Ashley Young sought as witness to bar attack

Quote
Premier League footballer Ashley Young is to be questioned as a witness over an assault at a Manchester bar, it has been confirmed.

The Aston Villa player was at Panacea, in John Dalton Street, in the early hours of Sunday with team-mates Emile Heskey and Stephen Ireland.

Bar manager Joe Akka, 35, was hit in the face with a glass. A 36-year-old man has been arrested and bailed.

Police said there was no suggestion the players were involved in the attack.

Ireland and Heskey are not thought to have witnessed the assault.

Aston Villa played Manchester United at Villa Park on Saturday, with the teams drawing 2-2.

"Sought" seems to be a strange choice of word.

I wouldn't have thought that Ash was the most difficult guy for the police to track down

That headline makes it sound like he's the subject of a manhunt

Good point. Unfortunatley.

Funny you should say that: when I noticed he was not on the squad for Saturday's game I assumed he'd had a fall-out with GH ... after his underwhelming cameo appearances recently it would be of little surprise if he slings his hook in January. He's clearly not on the first-pick radar at the moment and GH would generate some decent funds for buying one of his own if he sold him.

Heskey was the partner of Kylee Pinsent but he left her in 2004 and is now engaged to Chantelle Tagoe.[129] He started seeing Tagoe secretly in 2002, who worked part-time as a waitress at a lap-dancing bar in Liverpool, while still in a relationship with Pinsent.[130] Following the revelation of his two-year affair with Tagoe, Pinsent broke up with Heskey.[131] He is the father of five children, three of them with former partner Pinsent and two with Tagoe.[132] His fiancée Tagoe was held at knifepoint at their home in Hale, Greater Manchester in July 2008, while he was at a training session.[133] The thieves burgled the house and stole Heskey's BMW but neither Tagoe, nor their two children who were in the house, were hurt.Wiki.

Does Heskey still live in Manchester! Ireland also?

I couldn't be arsed driving from Manchester to Bodymoor heath every day. Saying that, he is injured most of the time. That msut save his petrol bill.

Shouldn't take even our beloved police force too long to establish exactly where Ashley will be from about 10am till 1pm every day.

Lot of discussion locally in this area as injured Bradford City players have been seen in pubs night clubs etc, but apparently they were drinking soft drinks so that was ok. I see also Shearer is warning Andy Carroll to stay on the straight and narrow if he wants to play football at the highest level, I take this to mean stay off the booze. It's hardly rocket science is it but some players are so comfortable picking up their £50k a week that they don't seem to care that few nights out might hinder their performances on the pitch.

After Stoke away last season I saw Heskey & Freidel both getting into a car whilst the rest of the team boarded the coach home.

So I presume they both still live in the North West.

I heard a story, don't know how true it is, that Heskey is renting a house in Four Oaks and has put in a swimming pool even though the owner will make him take it out again when he hands the keys back.
