I think you have to play Ash, Albrighton and Downing.

Interesting question about whether Ash could play up front by himself, but that feels like a risk. Carew doesn't seem to have the mobility though, so it will be interesting. I'd be v tempted to play Clark ahead of Sidwell. But I think Albrighton, Bannan and Clark in the same midfield might be a bit much. So I'd probably go with Carew and pray that he comes back into form.

We should get there in the end, but it's going to be a stop and start season isn't it . . .

Carew hatrick, ash dives and gets a pen for Carews third!

 you never know!

Seriously though I'd play Ireland against Fulham, I think this is the type of game he could find his feet.

       NRC Clark
Downing Ireland Ash
          Carew

Bring albrighton on if it isn't working!

Lawro says we'll lose, and complains about us being "content to play on the counter-attack". He appears to have watched one of our games this season and, reasonably enough, drawn a massive conclusion for it. Honestly, someone should just put him out of his misery.

Under his old mate MON he could have said that but I doubt he ever did. It's far too early to read too much into ''Hotlips'' style but we are trying to keep it on the deck a lot more and place more importance on possession.

If everyone played to their potential , that team would win there..   Its just getting Carew and Ireland to hit form..

Houlier confirms that Nathan will start.

Come on then Nathan.  Prove to the boss that you are good enough.  This is your big moment.

If Delfouneso does the business tomorrow then I might change my feelings, but I don't think the lad will cut it at this level.

At least GH isn't considering a 6 man midfield again..................but there's
another 24 hours to go - wrap Nathan in cotton wool please

Wasn't confident of anything but defeat at Craven Cottage but in the face
of adversity you never know............we will see which players' hearts are
really in it tomorrow

Think I will have an extra pint by the side of The Thames so we might not
look that bad when the whistle goes

We didn't play a 6 man midfield. Else it would have been bloody crowded, and if you were there, it sure wasn't crowded in central midfield.
