Launched a tirade of abuse towards Savage because I thought that the only reason Dublin would have reacted like that was maybe some sort of racist comment, turned out not to be the case (or at least Dublin has never said so), so he just lost the plot.

I've said it many times but I doubt we'll ever see a night like that again, seemed like most had completely lost their marbles and the players simply joined in.

I said something along the lines of "you fucking twat Dion" for falling for Savage's tricks and making winning the game harder for us. Followed by a volley of abuse at Savage of which maybe every 6th word wasn't an obscenity.

As for the atmosphere that night, I don't remember anything that bad even in the 80s. It actually felt like you taste and smell the hatred and violence in the air. I swear I saw police in the Lower Holte looking more than a bit nervous, verging on scared. It literally felt like everyone in the Holte was "up for it".

I was calling him all the names under the sun. It was pathetic. As much as I love Dublin.

Favourite moment has to be Garry Thompson's headed winner in 87 at the sty. Think they had beat us a few times prior to that and it was a relief to end that run. Cracking goal too!

As the ball hits the net, you see one of the Stewards along the divide jump up & go nuts... Hilarious!!!

Never noticed that before, it made me smile that did.

Wonder how nervous they got once that initial reaction had gone & they then realised how close to the knukkledraggers they were!!!! Funny!!!

Can't decide if I like [in as much as being able to like someone who my knowledge of is based on the games they've been involved in and how they're portrayed in the media] Robbie Savage or not, but listening to him on 6-0-6 on a Saturday evening is almost obligatory in my house now. Entertainment wise, he's a classic.

Which leads nicely on to my all time favourite derby match.  Naturally, Blues stalwart Joe Gallagher wants a bumper pay day for his testimonial, so of course, despite the fact they hate us, Villa are invited along.  However, by the time Joe's big night arrives, Villa are Champions.  That alone should have been enough to lord it over the great unwashed, but Villa fail to go along with the spirit of a testimonial occasion and send along, not a collection of reserves and up-and-coming youth team players, but the first team squad.  Result? 6-0 to the Villa. Next day at school, not a peep from those Noses who had all jumped on the Ipswich-were-the-better-team bandwagon.
