I'd sell him in January and get an extra 5m.

I don't rate him in the free role tbh and we won't finish in the top 4 with or without him so I don't see the point in keeping him for another few months and seeing his value go down a bit.#

If he was happy here, he'd sign the deal now so he's off. And he's deluded if he thinks he'd get into the Spurs team ahead of Bale or VDV.

I'd agree with you Paulie if Ashley was doing the business, week in, week out. The fact is, he's hardly setting the world on fire, instead living on past glories. He's right on one thing, he needs to get his head down and concentrate on his own game. At the moment, he'd be no great loss.

He's our best player by a mile.

If the club don't show the correct ambition soon it will be Gabby next, then Albrighton, then Bannan...
He may well be our most talented player but what is he doing with that talent? He now can't cross, certainly can't take a decent corner although he did thread a great ball through for Downing today.

His crossing has become quite abysmal. He's got so much to offer when he's on. But when he's off his game, a lot of things go wrong. He should get with Stewart Downing this week and get some lessons on wing play. I thought Downing on both flanks was excellent today.

as its the sun, its made up.

i advise ashley to contact his lawyers as the sun have quoted him when hes not spoken to them.

it's not made up that he isn't signing a contract at this time and will wait until the summer. GH spoke quite liberally about it during his press conference and was in full support of his decision. There's nothing made up about the story itself.

I wasn't seriously saying it was made up, i was just making a needless, baseless insult at a Newspaper i REALLY REALLY hate.

The BBC Gossip column say that the likely buyers are Man U, Liverpool and Tottenham.

The only one there that I could believe - and would be sufficient to turn Young's head - are Man U.  Possibly a long term replacement for Giggs?

As stated before, if he wants out then lets get as much money as possible and quickly move on.

I'd like Villa to sign somebody as exciting as Ashley Young.  Can you see it? 18 months ago I could.  I can't now.

The problem we have is that he can play crap, make poor decisions, over hit crosses and waste dead ball situations and know that he will play every week because we dont have any alternatives, he has talent, he is not a great player but sadly the best we have

Why not?  We're in a better position now than we were when we signed him in the first place.

If Young leaves it will be another step down into midtable mediocrity, he's a fantastic player who needs to be pampered otherwise it's going to get pretty boring down Villa Park.

That's not the wider perception though.  Like it or not, the Villa are not currently seen as they were 2/ 3 years ago.

I think the biggest difference in his play is he no longer runs at defenders with pace, he is always stopping and turning. Don't mind if we sell him as long as we get a decent replacement not another prem player that has been tried and failed.

A Young is very overrated. He can hardly beat a player from a standing start. Is very limited in has skills( same old same old) his crossing is diabolical, and yet he is percieved as something of a star by the media and by himself. If we get 20 mill for him we should be laughing. Considering that Albrighton & Bannan for all their youth can and will cause more problems for the opposition than Young ( without the superstar limping and diving antics) I would take the 20 mill. It's time to cash in on Young otherwise it's really going to go downhill later on when things are not going his way.

---Young---Cuellar---Collins---Warnock---

----------------Ireland---------------------------
--------------------------Gabby------------------

Personally I don't think that looks too bad.
