Far too many negative comments on here. I went to the game and went home feeling positive, considering Houllier's been here a couple of weeks, considering he's working with someone else's players, considering he's managed NRC and Emile back to effective first team football, considering he's got them PASSING the football TO A TEAMMATE, considering we played Spurs off the park for long periods (and not just the first half) when if you remember it was them who did the same to us at VP last year, and considering they have some pretty good players despite their injuries. The only difference was the Crouch-van de Vaart partnership which we couldn't replicate. We played some good stuff. Houllier felt we should have had a draw and Harry was particularly magnanimous about us, and fair dooze to him. For the neutral a pretty entertaining game and maybe one we should have drawn. Let's hope MOTD does us justice.
We're a work in progress, and this is going to be a very up and down season with the recent changes.I've not seen the game, but the consensus on here seems to be that we played some more than decent football. I thought we did the same at Stoke, and at Wolves, too, so the signs are there, and that's enough for me at the moment. The manager's been here a little over a week. He's probably not managed to remember everyone's name yet, let alone get them performing as best he can.
Does playing 'nice football in periods' win us games and put points on the board?
We probably can but only just and it does raise the question as to why need Ireland... Is he a luxury item we should cash in on?
Dunne playing worse now than under MON - was he pro-MON?
