I think there is a strong case for 4-5-1 here. That would either involve Ireland in for Albrighton, or bringing Downing into a central role and Ashley going wide (the difference being Downing would play as the attacking player in a 3, rather than a number 10), with the ability to shift to 4-2-3-1 without too much trouble during the game. I'm quite attracted to the latter idea.

I think I would keep the same back 4 as last weekend.

I really really hate spurs, especially watching them in the CL, so I'm saying 9-1 to Villa

2-0 Spurs.  VDV with 2 pens.

EDIT.  Pens which will be given for fouls on Aaron Lennon by Stephen Warnock after the former has skipped past the latter and left him for dead.

Ledley has played for them tonight, so he won't be playing on Saturday. Should be Bassong & Corluka.

Yeah i'm kinda changing my mind after their score this evening... Not so sure about their champions league comedown now... They could be buzzing from a result like that even if it was FC Twente

The result didn't reflect the game, they got a lot of help from the ref and poor finishing from Twente. I'm still not confident about Saturday but I didn't see anything tonight to make me more worried.

Will he not be banned?

Can see a 4-2-3-1 against Spurs. With Downing tracking back to cover Warnock. Ireland and Ash in front of Reo and Petrov. Heskey leading the line .......... Think spurs were pretty lucky tonight. Hope that will run out saturday .....

You have to go for 2.1 or 3.2 to us.

Still remember going to the game at WHL  just after Hodge (spit) joined them.   Wasnt the best experience but at least we gave him some stick and had to run at least a mile from the wankers to the  tube.

Very flattering scoreline for Spuds tonight. They won't get away again with the dodgy defending they displayed.

Looking at their bench last night, they had a midfield on there of Lennon, Palacios, Jenas and Kranjcar, that's better than Albrighton, Petrov, NRC and Downing for me and it's only their reserves, Bale, VDV and Modric to tear us apart, 3-1 Spurs

Is it bollocks. The only player of quality amongst that lot is Lennon and even he's hit and miss.

How many England caps does Jenas have compared with NRC? I'd say Palacios and Kranjcar are equal to Petrov and Downing

Kevin Gage, why are you against bringing players in from 'the cold' such as Sidwell and Ireland, yet you state that the same happened to L Young last yr and he marked an in form Lennon out of the game?
