The game at Molinuex last season was awful. Sidwell's stupid tackle for the penalty was the only way they were going to score. We were a lot stronger at the back though last season plus Fletcher has been a good signing for them.

Still though I'm confident. Wolves had to go to extra time midweek and we had a morale boosting come from behind win. Massive decision at centre half does Houllier let Dunne know he is number one and play him or go with the form guys Cuellar and Collins. No brainer at full back Young and Warnock. No way should Albrighton start on that cabbage patch, this game will be a war for the first half hour so would definitely have him on the bench. Thought he was dire against Bolton anyway. Even though moving Young into the hole on Wednesday worked well I'd start him off wide right against Stephen Ward with Ireland supporting Heskey and Downing left. They could rotate as required, I'd be interested to see how the two young Irish full backs Foley and Ward do against them. Id go for Sidwell and Reo Coker as two holding midfielders too. No harm letting the likes of Petrov, Dunne and gabby know that there is a new guvnor in town and all that matters is performances on the pitch.

------------Friedel--------------
Young, Cuellar, Collins, Warnock,
------Reo Coker, Sidwell-----------
A Young, Ireland, Downing
-----------Heskey---------

I agree with most of that, although leaving Heskey on the bench might suggest to him that he's got to do a lot more than play well for half hour to just walk straight back into the team.

Should beat Wolves. We're the better team, but we need NRC and Sidwell to stiffen the midfield and protect the back 4. Which means that it may be a defensive hard fought game, therefore very few goals goals, if any at all. I think we're looking at a draw. 0-0 I think, which won't be disaster.

Would have Petrov over Sidwell every day of the week.  I find it almost inconceivable that we would leave out our captain unless it was for a player who was playing outstandingly, which certainly isn't Sidders, he's been pretty useless for about 3 years now.

On Mock The Week tonight:
"We are now approaching Birmingham New Street. Passengers for Wolverhampton should change here and are advised that there is a JD Sports shop opposite the station."

Even my wife found that funny and she is from Yorkshire!

Bore draw btw

Worst game of football I've seen in years. Obviously the weather conditions never helped but we're so much better than that.

As others have mentioned, we need to step it up and hopefully the team will be up for it big time. Tough game, Wolves are improving but we should have too much for them. Stick to our plan, don't allow them to bully us and I think we'll take the 3 points.

2-0 Villa.

Just what I've been thinking. We might need every central midfielder available on the bench to replace those injured.

Absolutely. The idea of selecting Sidwell over him is frankly amazing.

It could be the kick up the backside that Petrov needs, although to be fair Sidwell doesn't inspire me with confidence!

Petrov doesn't need a kick up the arse, he needs someone next to him to give the opposition a kick up the arse, to let him get on with what he does best.

I'd take a draw to be honset,I can see it being a blustery day, them roughing us up a bit,Downing going missing,Young getting hacked and annoyed.
