Brad Guzan kept an impressive clean sheet as Hull defeated Coventry 1-0 at the Ricoh Arena.

In the process, the Tigers set a new club record for unbeaten away league matches - 14 without defeat on their travels.

Aaron Mclean scored the only goal of the game when he thumped in Matty Fryatt's pass beyond keeper Keiren Westwood in the first half.

Eric Lichaj and Barry Bannan were both involved as Leeds United missed the chance to close in on the automatic promotion spots as they were held to a draw by Ipswich Town.

Swansea's defeat at Derby meant Leeds could have moved up to joint second in the table with a win but the hosts were frustrated by a glut of wasted chances.

Lichaj started at right-back and played 90 minutes while Bannan was introduced as a 76th minute substitute in front of a crowd of 27,432.

Shane Lowry could do nothing to prevent Sheffield United going down 3-0 at Watford.

Lowry played the whole game as the relegation-threatened Blades were reduced to nine men inside 34 minutes in the defeat at Vicarage Road.

The Blades went behind to a Danny Graham header from close range. Striker Darius Henderson was then sent off for the visitors after being given a second yellow following a clash with Lee Hodson, who was stretchered off.

The Blades also had Lee Williamson red-carded for a foul on Lloyd Doyley, before Martin Taylor and Ross Jenkins went on to add to the Hornets lead.

Andreas Weimann played the last nine minutes for Watford.

Nathan Delfouneso played up front for 68 minutes as Burnley went down 3-0 at home to Millwall.

Paul Robinson scored a second-half double as the Lions ended the home side's three-match winning run and kept their own faint play-off hopes alive.

Defender Robinson opened the scoring from six yards with a neat left-footed finish from Andros Townsend's corner. Robinson grabbed his second when he met Alan Dunne's cross and fired in left-footed from 12 yards out. Townsend grabbed a third in the 87th minute when he rifled home a low left-foot shot from 12 yards.

Jonathan Hogg produced an typical all-action performance in Portsmouth's 0-0 home draw with Middlesbrough.

Hogg played 90 minutes in a game which swung one way and then the other.

Pompey had the best of the first half, Hermann Hreidarsson's header hitting the bar. Boro were the better side for much of the second period, Scott McDonald drawing a save from Jamie Ashdown.

Isaiah Osbourne played 68 minutes for Sheffield Wednesday in their League One defeat at home to Notts County.

The Magpies eased their relegation worries with their first victory in four matches as the poor home league run of the Owls continued.

Alan Gow scored the only goal of the game as he converted a penalty after he had been fouled by Mark Beevers.

Not sure at the moment. Someone like \Snodgrass is class for them at that level. The rest of the midfield seems to playing well at the moment so why risk upsetting that by playing a fresh faced kid from Villa? however good he may be.

I feared this would happen, them having him and not playing him from the start.
One of the reasons I was dead set against him going there.

Leeds United have extended the loan of Aston Villa defender Eric Lichaj until 7 May.

The 22-year-old United States international joined Leeds on a one-month deal in February and has played seven games for the Championship side.

"Eric has done well since he came here," United manager Simon Grayson told the club website.

"He has shown his qualities and he gives us good competition in the right-back area."

Why is it a risk playing a much better player than you already have? The only risk would be a risk of getting promoted to the Premier league and in the face of that and all those undoubtedly huge promotion payout bonuses, I'm sure none of their squad would turn a blind eye.

Aside from anything else, they are fortunate to have him. The ONLY reason they do have him is so they play him.
If they dont, send him elsewhere.

Getting a bit of a bad review from the Burnley fans it seems. Saying that they understand he's playing up front on his own and not getting much service. Some of the comments though  -

He's got to be better than this surely (from what I've seen before he is)? He's got pace to burn but Iwelumo is more of a threat in behind! Movement so poor it's untrue.

First game ive managed to see him, and although service wasnt there, didnt look like scoring

Once nice turn and hit, but did absolutely nothing to justify retaining his place: running side ways across the pitch whilst your teammates are increasingly stranded up front and goalside of you is not good play. He was passable whilst we had momentum first half, but as we lost our way he was a total passenger. A minor tick for winning the corner from which we equalised.

More of a Whittingham than a Cahill on what I've seen so far. How exactly is he in the U21s ahead of Rodriguez on current form ?
