I just don't agree, Maz. Several top saves the other night which didn't hint at any loss of reflexes.

I think he's fine at present, I meant him deciding whether he thinks his body is up to another 12 months.

He saves well when the ball is fired straight at him. I said he's a great shot stopper.
But too much goes past him where a younger keeper will get to them and I dont like him being rooted to his goal line. It puts a lot of pressure on our defence.

I'm very fond of him, he's a top bloke and a good keeper, but let's not pretend he's a top keeper any more and we need one.
Anyway, disagree all you like, its your prerogative, but he'll have to be replaced soon. That's just the way it is. He can't go on forever and its a position I definitely think we can improve.

If Brad thinks he's up to it then we keep him. I don't think he's the type to just carry on for the sake of it and will be honest enough to admit when it is time to call it a day. For now there aren't many better so we stick with him and start planning for the future.

If rumours of him being skint are true he will want to carry on for as long as some team is willing to pay him.

The way I see it is, Westwood is free this summer, why keep Brad for a year then pay millions for a keeper next year.

Westwood is quality, comanding in the air, great on corners and a brilliant shot stopper. We should not let this opportunity slip.

Ok, let's ask for Milner & Given, or maybe even Richards & Given for Young.

Why don't we go for Al-Habsi from Bolton? He's doing well at loan at Wigan. Or, if Westwood at Cov is doing well, we could bring him in, along with someone like Kirkland to also throw in to the team if Westwood is not ready?

I would willingly swap Ashley for Milner.
I think we've missed him badly.

I dont want Ash to go but swap him for Milner and get a crackerjack winger in and Bob's your mothers brother.

Of course, Ash has to this point showed no sign of wanting to leave Villa whereas Milner actually did.
So I'm cautious about getting too far ahead of ourselves.

In all honesty, whilst he knows he was idolised and loved here, I cant see Milner coming back. Not in the next couple of years anyway.
But if he does, he could, all going well, take his place at the sharp end of one of the hardest working and most effective midfields in the game.
Hopefully we negotiated a first refusal by back in Milners deal to at least make it interesting.

The difference between this season and last is that - if we lose a key player - I have confidence that the manager can replace him.

Listened to 5live the other night, and they were talking about City, and how Viera's leg have gone, and there was no drive in their midfield.

So why the hell did Mancini buy Milner? If they played him in the position we did, they'd be closer to the top of the league. They should be made to sell him back to us,for mis-using him!
