Yes, Milner back and a few bob would do fine (or more realistically, a straight swap). I'd rather not sell Young to them, or at all but I'd trust Houllier to replace him.

No. Its time to move on.
I think him for his efforts but we need a new number one and maybe a new back up too.
No more money pissed away on pointless contracts.

Unless he has aims to be a goalkeeping coach or something.

Friedel may have one year left in him by the looks of things, and I'd be inclined to give him a one year extension. No more, but that should be fine for him. However, long-term we'll need a keeper with better distribution as well as the rest of it. Brad's a terrific keeper and he's improved in this respect but is still prone to the pointless, aimless hoof downfield which loses the ball.

I disagree, I think Friedel's been one of our most consistent performers this year and if he feels like he wants to continue then I think we should give him another contract. Of course, eventually, we'll need a new keeper but I think he's still performing to a top level and no need to change that just becuase he'll eventually retire.

He's rooted to his line, he doesnt come and claim, he's agile for a 40 year old but gets beaten in the corners too easily because he's not all that agile.
He's still a great shot stopper but should catch more than he does.

A really good keeper who has been brilliant in his career, but quite replaceable.
Offer him a years contract to be number two or three?
I dont see the point and I doubt he would either.

No, come the summer it's time to get the long term solution(s) in for my money.
I think Houllier will see it that way too.

If Brad thinks he's up to it then we keep him. I don't think he's the type to just carry on for the sake of it and will be honest enough to admit when it is time to call it a day. For now there aren't many better so we stick with him and start planning for the future.

I'd rather not leave it up to Friedel to be honest. Especially not midway through a season. And there are better and younger keepers around than him.
Not many, true, but the task is to shop in the up-market areas now after all.

He's certainly no calamity. But he gets beaten either side of him too easily and doesn't boss his area at all.
It's just a matter of his reactions not being what they were. It happens and he's had a great innings.
Not many keepers play to his age, never mind past it. Not at the top level anyway.

Kieran Westwood will be free in the summer, so let Brad go and get Westwood. He could be our number 1 for the next decade.

He was top class against Man Utd. And i think you have to take into account the influence he has on team members. He is highly respected and maybe a one year contract with another up and coming keeper to come in under his wing and guidance ? Plus i think Lerner, Bradley etc will motivated by his presence ....

I just don't agree, Maz. Several top saves the other night which didn't hint at any loss of reflexes.

I think he's fine at present, I meant him deciding whether he thinks his body is up to another 12 months.

I'd certainly go for Westwood but not necessarily as number one. As back up and serious competition, certainly.
Samir Handanovic is out of contract soon.
Or we could go for somebody like Stekelenburg.
