We'll have to disagree on this, Maz. I agree that it's about goals, but goals from the team overall, and I still don't know where these extra goals are coming from if a key member of your forward play isn't contributing to moves.

I will agree though that this is all moot for us because, as I and a number of others have said, Bent's all-round game is plenty good enough and will only get better.

No wonder 'Arry doesn't like the transfer window, he's not a wheeler dealer.

Oh dear, 'Arrrry doesn't like the transfer window.

I think this just broke the internet's Hypocrisometer. The biggest pantomime fanny dancing mouthpeice who should basically call himself "Mr Sky Sports Transfer window carnival" doesn't like transfer windows?
Not THIS transfer window maybe Harry.

"Everybody's sitting around waiting for something to happen and nothing is happening"

If he were to make an analysis of his club's transfer window activity that might be the answer.

And when he does sign a player, to listen to him it's as if he's had no part of it at all. There's a phone call out of the blue from Daniel Levy, asking if he's interested in such-and-such a player, Harry expresses pleasant surprise that such a top-quality player might be available, a fee is offered and - goodness! the selling club accepts!

I actually think he got a bit cocky with his knockdown purchase of Van der Vaaaaaaart at the end of the last window. That was clearly a pisstake offer made at the last minute to a selling club which was suddenly desperate. He thought he could repeat the trick with Rossi/Forlan/Aguera/Llorente/Carroll/Adam and he got told to piss off six times in a row.

Oh yes, I forgot him. Moyes absolutely livid about that.

That could be it actually. I was only saying to an Everton work colleague that I wouldn't be surprised if Moyes quits before the end of the season, as his demeanour struck me very much like O'Neill before he left. Could well be that he was pissed off at spurs, rather than contemplating jacking it all in.

If the supporters turn on him I would expect him to think hard about it. He is clearly operating under all kinds of constraint.

Must add comment to previous posters frustrations at how the media have portrayed 'Transfer Deadline Day' as it's now known.

They literally falling over themselves to congratulate Liverpool and Chelsea for making grand statements of intent.  No talk of panic buying etc.  Carroll is apparently good business, Torres the missing piece of the Chelsea jigsaw.

No talk of Chelsea or Liverpool ruining football a la Manchester City.  Just a nice cosy 'big 4' love in that takes you back to pre-Lerner Villa, pre-money City and pre-resurgent Spurs (spit).

Considering the negativity surrounding the Bent transfer it really does beggar belief.

Dont we just love it when we are recieving negativity from the press, we can sneak up
at the end of season with bent being top scorer ,and with two for tonight being a good start towards that.

There isn't a single player bought by a top club, certainly not for top money, who is bought for one attribute. They have to be multi-functional or they're too limited and not good enough (for the record, I think Bent is far more multi-functional than anyone's likely to give him credit for).

What is Torres other function? I stand by my description in other threads that Bent is the English Torres. They will score with maybe just one chance at goal but can be anonymous in other games. I don't mind that with Bent as we need to score goals this season.

If Blue Kipper and other similar Everton forums are anything to go by, that's well under way.

Plenty of chat about how he's lost the dressing room and so on. Mind you, this was around the time they got thumped at home by the Olbiyun before Christmas. They might love him again now.
