It's great not having to really worry about today. Usually we haven't signed many players or anyone and we're left praying for something at the last minute. Now, we're relaxed. The big deals are done. One loan to come in, one loan to go out (we hope), and you never know about a late surprise. Even if that doesn't happen it's been a really satisfying January transfer and results wise.

Liverpool have been rinsed if they have paid anything like £35m for Carrol.

Houllier has played a blinder by nipping in and getting Bent good and early. Reckon we've saved at least £10m by being out of this particular merry-go-round.

Carroll would Have had a nice cut of the fee too - crafty cockney geezer that Ashley!

The cut of the fee is pretty irrelevant these days, even if you're going for £Stupid millions. He'll be on a salary that gives him £5m a year for 5 years, or something close to that...

Ditto. The papers seemed to thing we'd be losing stars left, right and centre. Ash was on his way, even Downing. But nope, Randy and Gerard have pulled off a corking, and much needed, window.

So basically then lose world cup winner torres and in return get 2 players who were in the championship last season for virtually the same sort of money combined - Liverpool are definately the losers in this deal.
