35m fee for Carrol now agreed.  This is officially the end of football.

If Liverpool did have a bid accepted for Carroll would he pass a medical? He has been injured for weeks  hasn't he?

a lot of posters seem not to rate Carrol very highly,

i think he'l be a great striker, he is dangerous in the air, good touch, good vision and works for the team,
and is very young.

i almost would prefer him to Torres, as he would probably play more games without injury, and not go sulking around

Torres - 48mill  Carrol - 35 mill,  i'd take Carrol of the two thanks, even at those prices

Having re-read the very first post of this 511 page thread, I wonder what time we'll be bidding for Owen, leaving it a bit late

Class.  Got to worry that Ged will miss out on his first signing...

I've got a feeling Ash will go to Arsenal in the summer. Wenger will sell Arshavin.

So, a formerly top club is struggling in the league, sell their best player and then splash ridiculous money on a striker.

Yet will we see the words 'selling club' or 'panic buy' mentioned?

No, I don't think so either.

Come on, its the price which is causing such astonishment. £35m makes him the 8th most expensive player transfer in history. It's utterly desperate and ridiculous, whichever way you look at it, no matter how decent a player he is. Carroll is not a great footballer, and I doubt he will be.

To be fair thats a great move for andy carroll. Liverpool is the only city in europe where his hairstyle is still fashionable.

Cue:  thousands of Geordies descending on St. James' Park burning an effigy of Mike Ashley and crying into the Sky cameras.

Who has said a fee of £35m has been agreed for Carroll? As I understand that is the price Newcastle are asking, who said it has been offered?

The problem is one is rating him on nothing more than about a third of a season in the premier league.

He might have potential and all that but he could go either way based on such a short track record to date

Liverpool are just desperate because they know they can't rely on an extremely temperamental striker who might turn out to be another Alves or even, dare I say it, Huntelaar. Remember this guy Suarez has just come back from a 7 match ban for biting an opponent during a match...
