The days of a regular 11 are gone, houllier will rotate his players and in the main keep them fresh and happy hopefully, same as he did at Liverpool there will be few unchanged teams , but he is not a tinkerman in the ranieri and benitez mould- more a rotator in the sir alex style , it will be nice to get to march and not have a team of knackered players.

We took more points in March and April (P10 W5 D4 L1) than we have during the last 4 months (P18 W4 D6 L8), it was probably our best two month period of the whole of last season.

We get it. You'd rather have a pint with MON than GHou.

I'm a bit nonplussed by Bradley coming in, to be honest. Sure, he's a good player, and a whole level up from the likes of Larsson, but he's a tenacious, driving sort of player - something I'd have thought we're hardly short of.

Disagree Monts.

We have NRC who thinks he's that sort of player, but lacks the quality to really be effective. And Stan, who might have been that type of player once but is now more of a senior pro, always keeping possession and rarely getting caught out of position, but hardly zooming box to box.

Makoun and Bradley will give our midfield legs, probably the closest player we've had to Bradley previously would be Ian Taylor, that is a box-to-box athlete who weighs in with a few goals too.

He's technically competent and brings much needed height and muscle to the middle of the park. Overall happy with this deal if it goes ahead.

Well, you've forgotten Delph and Gardner in there (though the latter's more guesswork, I admit), who are similar players and very promising, but I see your point.

To be honest, I'm more in favour after a bit of consideration and two events. For starters, while I'm Stan's biggest fan, it is clear that his time is coming to an end and he will need replacing, so that's fair enough. The two events: Bannan's performance against Blackburn and GH's praise for him afterwards make it pretty clear to me that he sees him as a genuine short and long term creative option, which I welcome; and Ireland going on loan to Newcastle, and his role now being replaced in the squad by Bradley, who is a genuine all-rounder in midfield.

Look at what GH is trying to build in the centre: Makoun and Bradley are excellent all-round players, who can fill almost every midfield role defensively and going forward. Couple that with a bit of creativity from Bannan, Downing or someone and you have a perfect midfield three.

I get it. Villadawg bases his opinions on facts rather than mythology.

Reminds me of coming down the steps of the North Stand after we drew 2-2 with Stoke in March I think, the first time that season we hadn't won after taking the lead. Overheard quite a few people bemoaning how "we never learn" and "we're always throwing away points in the last few minutes".

Haha, I am indeed more plussed than before, Maz.

To be fair Toronto, my original reaction was one of "where will he fit in", but a bit of sobre judgement and a look at the squad and I think there's only one conclusion to draw really. He's another piece in an ever-more promising looking jigsaw - and a damn sight better than Larsson, too.

The biggest thing we have missed about Jimmy is his legs in the centre of midfield - he was running hard from 1-90. Petrov can't do it, NRC visibly tires due to not pacing himself every week. Bradley is the type of player I think we though Sidwell was, all rounder with quality. Lets hope he is a lot better than the ginger one.

Centre back? Has to that Spahic lad surely? Unless he has got Lescott in his sights to play left/ centre.

Nobody had heard of that Swiss Rambler website a month ago. Now if it suits the argument it's writ in stone.

I wouldn't say it is writ in stone. They just appear to provide independent, understandable and comprehensive explanations on some complex football finance issues.

Perhaps the issue you have is that their findings don't suit your arguments?

I'm always happy to read better or more authoritative sources of factual information if you know of any.
